You fans of this movie should watch Johnny Be Good (1988). It stars Anthony Michael Hall and Paul Gleason, in practically a sequel, of sorts, to The Breakfast Club.

In Johnny Be Good (1988), Anthony Michael Hall plays Johnny Walker, a senior high school starting quarterback vying for a full ride college tuition scholarship among several competing colleges. Paul Gleason plays his high school football coach, a major confidant and motivator to Johnny Walker.

It's as if it's a sequel! And time-wise, it could be. Say Anthony Michael Hall was a freshman in The Breakfast Club (1985), then three years later in 1988, he's a senior! And Paul Gleason went from principal to football coach.

He actually looks the part in that movie. Hall grew into a jock looking dude, I mean he was unrecognizable in Edward Scissorhands as the evil douchebag boyfriend.

Imo, Johnny Be Good is pretty mediocre. I thought with the caliber cast on offer that it'd be much better.

Imdb message boards - kick someone's ass on the first day, or become someone's bitch.

yeah. from this movie and sixteen candles you just don't see it. but I looked up the movie and yeah, he does look buffer.

Another 1980s John Hughes movie, lesser known though, is Weird Science, that has Anthony Michael Hall co-starring. And what is he in that film? a dweeb, loser, geek; the usual.

I brought up Johnny Be Good (1988) because there is such a contrast!! and it's still within high school age for him. There's also a big contrast with Paul Gleason, who went from demeaning nincompoop principal to his friend and confidant, high school football coach.
