So Allison enters saturday detention a goth loner type

But leaves a pretty sociable girlfriend of a jock? That part was always a little hard for me to swallow, her entire persona and style changed just like that. Just the way she has Andy's jacket around her and takes his patch, she looked like the cliche jock girlfriend. Also when she said "Is that good or bad?" with that smile, it just didn't sound like her at all, total different person out of the blue. No one changes their personality and look that quick.

Bender didn't change at the end, Clair didn't change, Andy didn't change, Brian didn't change, it was always weird to me Allison had to change.

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

And She look much hotter with all that *beep* on her face

I am not sure if Allison really changed. Her routine seemed to be an act. She was desperate for attention and her parents probably neglected her at home. That day perhaps for the first time in her high school experience she was treated well and could give her act a rest.

yeah

Good thing she did or she may Never have been touched by these People.

This. Despite what the modern world would have you believe, all women want to be the girly girl who dates an alpha male. If they can't, sour whatever reason, they might deal with it by turning to a subculture and convincing themselves that they're not one of the normal people because they don't want to be. I mean, when you look at goths, or stoners, or what have you, you see a lot of insecurity, jealousy, and depression. Because they're not who they want to be.

I think Alison was always girly (I mean, she's upper middle class probably, like all John Hughes characters) but put on the crazy Goth act to deal with her problems, whether real or perceived.

You think people choose to become regular marijuana smokers because they weren't accepted by the cool kids?

Insecurity, jealousy, depression. Isn't that pretty much every teenager ever?

And are you implying normal people don't smoke pot? Hate to come across as Mr NORML here, but what in the world are you talking about?

Gotta disagree with all that. I'd say they like who they are. Heck, I know many successful stoners with good self esteem.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

"Heck, I know many successful stoners with good self esteem."

Exactly! I even know amphetamines users who are successful, educated and quite fulfilled with themselves. We gotta stop all these stupid prejudices about drug users, of course a lot of drug users are unhappy and are not exactly successful, but we cannot put everyone in the same basket.

The worst type of people I actually know are alcoholics who judge stoners/drug users like if their addiction was in any way better. I'm not lying to make a point, I actually know people like that.

Wow, um, hey there's this thing called reality and you are ignoring it.

this right here.

Uh, no, her entire personality did not change at all. Were we even watching the same movie? I think not.

Allison has the secret plan to run away, because she can't bear her life as it is. Revealing this, was a clear invitation to clear - she wanted change.

There was a girl in my class at high school, who considered herself a punk. I never saw her wearing something else than black clothes and make up. Her dream job in the year of graduation was working in the field of pathology. Afterwards she did not manage to get into this course at university. She got a quite normal job then and got together with quite an average guy. Last reunion she proudly showed pictures of her marriage. Quite a cliché marriage type. I was really blown seing her in a white marriage dress - the first time in white. Till now she has one of the pics as fb profile image. So it was serious for her and nothing like a one time joke for a special occasion.
I certainly do not considering punks as being a phase of insecurnes in life they will best get over with, what I want to say: some people play distinctive roles in a social context and if it is just to have a role. Even a declared outsider might have it easier than being just a nobody. At the same time some people also like change and do not want to stick with their stereotype they have created for theirselves. In the end it might have just been a role they played and not their real self.

Hope she changed her diet. That lunch of hers still makes me 🤢

I put Doritos on my sandwiches.

I thought she looked better as a Goth and when she got the makeover I lost interest in her. Allison had to change because she was the freak of the group which is scary given they are all kind of freaky in their own way.

reply

Allison looked WAY better as a goth girl than she did later on!
