just wondering if there is any news on this special edition?

Unfortunately, I don't think it's looking too good. I e-mailed Disney not too long ago and got a reply saying that there are no plans for it to be released. However, I'm always checking Amazon.com because I'm sure they'd know months ahead of time.

shareIt's bad enough that they gave us that wretched DVD release in 2000 (with washed out colors, tears and dirt galore -- while the 2001 DVD release of Snow White was so clean, clear and colorful that it looked like it'd just been made), but then they announced a special edition only to bump it off the schedule for virtually identical re-releases of films like "Mary Poppins" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." If you announce a release, you should keep your word. I could forgive some of the smaller companies like Anchor Bay for pushing back releases for technical reasons (additional restoration, extras, etc.) but Disney's given no indication that that's the case, and I'm certainly not expecting their extras to be especially special (since they rarely are -- and they've always treated this film like a redheaded stepchild).
Sorry for the rant. I'm just really annoyed with the house of mouse over this one.
