NOT for (young) kids...

LOL, picked this one up at the Salvation Army for our four year old. We watch a movie every night before bed, only time of day we watch anything. (if I'm a movie buff making damn sure he's one too!) I must say I underestimated Disney on this one, went in expecting a pretty normal Disney movie, that's not what we got...

What we got even freaked ME out, I'm sure he's in his bed dreaming of skeletons and horned kings and lots of other terrible things. But, I guess kids need to get scared sometimes, it teaches that the world isn't all princesses and fairies. As far as a movie goes, I think the plot tries too hard, I understand why people on this board like it, for the nostalgia, the ability to scare, but story wise and plot wise, way too many holes.

This movie will be going away for awhile, banished to the hidden shelf that contains movies from grandma's and aunt's and uncle's that didn't know what the hell they were thinking when they bought them, but it might come down again in a year or two. I respect a kids movie with balls, and thats exactly what this is.

Well it is rated PG. That is a good indication that it might be scarey for little kids.

I think it depends on what kind of kid is watching the movie I used to watch this movie a lot when I was a little girl (I was no younger than five or six) and I was never scared. I mostly watched movies that most parents would say were "too scary" like Anastasia or Hunchback of Notre Dame
Maybe your kid just watches too many happy movies like Little Mermaid or Aladdin

Not to mention the pincers -click click click-

Kids love to be "scared"
When I was a kid I loved this movie and I loved scary tales (reasonably scary of course) this movie is terrific for kids. Ogres, witches and dragons FTW
