Amount of time cut from The Black Cauldron?

Okay, I know for a fact that there were scenes cut from the movie. However, I am hearing from various places about how much run time was cut out.

I heard from some places that two minutes were cut, while another says eight minutes were cut, and another says twenty minutes were cut, and lastly another site says there was an hour of footage cut!

Okay, which one is most true? I'm feeling all confused! DX

It was between 2 and 8, I think closer to 8. Certainly nowhere close to 20 minutes or higher.

I think it amounted to 2 areas:

The extended Fairfolk scene, on the new DVD. Presumably not fully animated.

The rising of the Cauldron-born. Most likely fully animated, based on what I've read and cels I've seen. We still have the reaction shots from the heroes but I think it would've helped to see some of this footage. And we will in time. Disney is working on making its library available to consumers once they can encypt it properly. I suspect a Vault Disney option will include Song of the South, the full run of Mickey Mouse Club, the Story of Menstruation, and the cut scenes of the Cauldron-born. Some of this is unmarketable to a wide audience, some is on the bad PR side, and some of this is being held back so this new distribution model offers never-before-seen footage. I want to see the melting face in full Disney animation too, but I know why it's being held back.
