More Don Bluth than Disney?
As soon as I put The Black Cauldron on, I was saying to my friends that it feels SO much more like a Don Bluth movie than a Disney one and they agreed. I know that Katzenberg who (tell me if I'm mistaken) worked with Bluth also worked on the movie...but it really felt like they were trying to copy the dark elements from the Secret of NIMH and other Bluth movies that were killing them at the box office in the 80s (Horned King's claws looked and moved just like Nicodemus's hands, the dungeon looked like the sewer from An American Tail etc, ) As lame as I think it is for competing companies to copy each other, sometimes you get marvelous results and the visuals for this film are no exception.
Did anyone else here notice the Don Bluthness and/or agree with me? :]
[EDIT]
You know what? I'm an idiot. I just found out Bluth DID draw for this movie and he was completely uncredited for the work.
.....those bastards.
