Disney Princesses

Shouldn't Eilonwy be part of the official line up of the Disney Princess franchise??

Thats still no reason to disqualify her, I mean this new so called princess(Tiana) is not even a princess. Maybe at the end she becomes one, but its the same way with Cinderella and Belle, they were not real princesses until they got married.

The true princesses are as follow:

Snow White
Arora/Bryar Rose
Maid Marion?
Princess Eilonwy
Ariel
Jasmine
Nala(this is pending due to parental arguments)
Pocahontas
Kida

-----------------------------------

Maids who are given title as Princess but only after marriage

Cinderella
Belle
Mulan- Mulan was a warrior not a princess even though she came close to it in pt 2.

this is all I have at the moment if someone wants to add onto this great.

Thank you for the correction I appreciate it, I was never clear if she was a princess or not, just do to the fact that I always thought King Richard was her father, but that was my mistake. Thanks again.

Yeah, seriously. The Disney Princess franchise doesn't just pick all of the princesses; they select heroines who "embody the values of Disney" or whatever. Basically, they choose heroines who sell merchandise, and Eilonwy, being from an obscure movie, would not sell merchandise.
The Disney Princess line isn't a list of princesses in Disney movies. It's a BUSINESS, and Disney isn't going to spend money developing products that aren't going to sell.

Bloop.

Eilonwy is the only Disney princess who DOESN'T SING. Shocking!

I would say wait for the sequels but those are history thanks to john lasseter.
I would love to have a continuing story for TBC.
Atlantis was a great story and its sequel would have been great if it was meant to be a sequel, however it was meant to be a cartoon series, the same as Cinderella II, it was meant to be apart of a ToonDisney Cartoon line up in the Princess Power Hour, and the Hero Hour or something which is where Atlantis would have been, these movies that have been discontinued Enchanted Tales would have been apart of the PPH however Disney was too involved in other things to give it full effect, the episodes we see in Cindy II, were actually meant to be
3 individual episodes which were strand together just like the movie Jungle Cubs born to be Wild.
Animation was added in between to give it a movie feel, many in the audience feels it was done horribly, I personally liked it, all but the music, felt it could have been done better.

Would you light my candle?

The princesses are from the most popular films. Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Aroura. All from extremly famous/popular Disney films. Mulan and Pocahontas are supposedly in the franchise but are rarely shown. Tiana and Rapunzel are new additions and are pretty popular atm. I read somewhere that "Every Disney princess is a heroine, but not every herione is a princess." So characters like Wendy, Alice, Maid Marian, Esmerelda are heroines but aren't included because they never are pricesses. Mulan is not a princess but is added for diversity as is Pocahontas even though she could be considered a Native American princess.

Megara from Hercules was going to be included but Disney decided against it becasue she wasn't ''wholesome" enough. Jane from Tarzan is excluded because some other companies own the rights to the character. Giselle from Enchanted was going to be included but Amy Adams had a contract signed that they would have to pay her for any use of her image. Nala is a lioness so she isn't included lol. Tinkerbelle was in it originally but she's a pixie so it was random. Plus she was so popular she spawned her own franchise. Unforutantely Kida and Eilonwy both meet the requirements to be a DP but their films were "flops." When most peope think of a Disney movie they think Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast not Atlantis or the Black Cauldron.

The official list is:
Snow White
Cinderella
Aroura
Ariel
Belle
Jamsine
Pocahontas
Mulan
Tiana
Rapunzel

Notice all these gals sing, have dashing princes and have happy endings, well minus Poca.

It was in a letter I read that was directly from the Disney company that someone wrote inquiring about other female characters who could be in the princess line. They said Megara for a brief moment when they were beginning the franchise was going to be a member but they decided against it last minute because they felt she wasn't a good role model being on the villains side at the start of the film. Yeah Alice and Tink were also in it. I wish Alice was still included she is one of my favorites.

Here's your lesson for the day:

Disney are complete DICKS to any movies/characters that didn't become a big freakin cash cow and make them a lot of money.

"Oh, so you're a fan of that movie we made that got beat by other ones at the box office?"

"SORRY, OUT OF LUCK!"

.......disgusting, isn't it?

Megara from Hercules was going to be included but Disney decided against it becasue she wasn't ''wholesome" enough.

THAT......

Well, OK, but Disney doesn't care and parents sure won't. She isn't the best contender for DPs or role model for a number of reasons, though it was certainly great of her to save Herc.

Meg starts out as a villain, for one. For another, she's too sexualised and no half-sane parent wants their kid to look up to someone who's the Disney version of Delilah and was inspired by Barbara Stanwyck, for cryin' out loud. For another, she generally just has a bad attitude throughout the movie towards everything and everyone, something Disney (and again, parents) are not into having for role models (as they are right to). Kids won't understand her bitterness or her change. They understand the Beast's because his is very obvious because his selfish, dark personality is made in a very obvious way. Meg is more complex and her personality is a sneakier one.

So yeah, Meg being a princess isn't gonna happen, and frankly I'd dislike having Disney try to tell me a seductive shrew-like character is supposed to be my kid's role model. She's fine after her change of heart but nobody thinks of that when they think of Meg- they just remember her sneers and snide sarcasm.

It sounds stupid, but, when they're hanging the Horned King says she's a scullery maid. Although, she should get to be in the range though, there's plenty there that aren't princesses.

Because he was insulting her and had probably also been forced to act as one.

Her name is PRINCESS Eilonwy, thus it would imply she is a princess, you know...
