Yes! I'm just reading the books now and they are freakin amazing. This Disney animated movie changed everything-characters, plot, even the humor is missing.

This could be so good as a new movie. Sadly, Disney still owns the movie rights. So who knows what they will do.

I don't get why Disney hasn't done anything with franchise since this movie. They NEED to adapt all the books into live action films.

I saw it for the first time last Friday, and was thinking the same thing (but for 1985). It's probably the least seen of the "older" animated Disney movies, probably because of it's different tone. Made as a live-action movie, it would have fit in with Dragonslayer, Legend, Willow, and LadyHawke nicely.

I never thought about this, but you are definitely right. Especially after the success of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, this book series screams for live action.
