as of September 8th the black cauldron will be released on Blu ray. the down side is for some, it's being released as a Disney movie club exclusive.

I just reached VIP status and was going to cancel my membership since my membership agreement is paid off, and there really isn't an incentive to keep it after the membership agreement is fulfilled (the movies still cost $29.95, I already received all the "free ones", and I still have to remember to decline the featured title every couple of weeks so they don't send me a movie I don't even want at a ridiculous price). But I guess if it is the only way to get The Black Cauldron on Blu-ray disc, then I guess I can wait a few more months.
sharePersonally I love being a VIP member. I love the discount of 60% off and free shipping, I love the pins, and honestly the only reason I would stop being a VIP is to start over and get the 5 movies for a $1.
I love collecting all of the exclusives, and from what I am hearing from someone I know who works inside the mouse's distribution center, they are looking to add more of the old school tv shows like pepperanne , lilo and stitch the series, even as far as finishing up series like ducktales , chip n dale rr, gummi bears, and a few others.
I can see why one would want to opt out of the club, but for me Mattddavis the good out weighs the bad.
also coming out will be saludos amigos and 3 caballeros 2 movie collection will also be apart of the exclusives for bd only in the DMC as well as the goofy movie 1 & 2..... that's all this year.

I will never understand what Disney's motivations about releases are. They have such an odd ruleset especially with 3D.
For those who plan to get it legally later you can already enjoy it with as BR download right now.
I'm not a member of the club but am considering it for The Black Cauldron Blu Ray. Did the source you heard from mention any releases of the Aladdin or The Little Mermaid TV series?

shareHey there, i found the info on Disney-wiki. I was bummed to find out that anyone can change the info on there. However the DMC says that the title is available but only on DVD at the current time.
Now there is a BD cover art for the Saludos Amigos / 3 Caballeros which I found online and it looks legit and some say it is legit but Disney is uncertain of when they will release it ... December perhaps as this D-wiki says ? Who knows... I'll be honest when I saw the news I jumped for joy and I was hopeful.
However Next months feature title is not being announced yet. so i am hopeful that perhaps the next feature title in the club could be TBC... I guess we will see what happens in the following weeks to come.

shareSadly The Black Cauldron was not released at all this year and its a shame too because they could have celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Any way it seems this film is one of the few to be not be released on BD, but that does not mean you can not own an HD or HDX version of this film.
VUDU.com movie service has The Black Cauldron for rent and sale. I rented the HDX for my UHD tv and I have to say it was wicked awesome .. the sounds booms with the surround sound and the picture is almost flawless.
I really hope Disney pulls this out of their little movie vault and gives us something worth while.
