If it was remade, what car would you like to see as the time machine?

I think a GTR would be a great choice for a modern time machine, personally. Obviously they’d need to update the 88 mph to something a little higher since it’s not really that fast anymore. What would you like to see as the new time machine if a reboot occurred?

An old East German Trabant. I drove one of these on a guided tour in Berlin. Getting this baby up to 88mph would certainly be an achievement!

88 mph was never considered that fast in 1985

Nope.
Average cars ( escorts, astras) had a top speed of over 100mph and a cruising speed of 70 mph. The DeLorean had a top speed of 109mph and was considered fairly slow compared to the (1984) 2.8 injection Capri that had a top speed of 131 mph, or even the (1985) Golf GTi which had a top speed of 129 mph.

The reason for using a DeLorean wasn't it's speed.

probably the tesla. lots of parallels to the delorean: both are made by rich coke-addict billionaires with no prior knowledge in automobiles.
