would finish with Pauls death? I was certainly sure that he is going to die in that sculpture. the ending was a surprise for me

The ending is good as it is, because it subtly let's the viewer know it was all a dream.

I never interpreted the ending as a suggestion of a dream. The movie is just a series of hilarious, but unfortunate events. I take the whole thing more as a "on the surface" type of movie.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the endings.

It was very much in keeping with the whole rest of the film
