STREET HAWK DVD -- your input needed!

Hello,

PDTV is currently planning a semi-professional DVD of the original STREET HAWK pilot, and your input is needed as to what you'd like to see!

Firstly, it should be made clear that this will be a transfer of the commercially-released VHS versions (yes, both of them), so while this will not be a fuzzy, off-air vintage recording, it will also not measure up to current commercial DVDs. With that said, it's also important to list some of the features that are being considered for this project, so the distinction can be made between this project and other transfers to DVD-R that do not offer anything over the original videocassette releases. When completed, the DVD should include:

* the option to choose either the Canadian or U.S. version of the pilot, plus a "build-your-own"
feature whereby you can mix and match the two versions. You'll be able to select "blue ray" or
"red laser" primary weapon, "matte" or "real" stunt sequences, and select which unique footage
from each version you'd like to see.

* full-motion interactive menus that put you on the STREET HAWK motorcycle or behind the main
console back at headquarters.

* secret bonus Easter Egg featuring Rex Smith

* photo gallery of STREET HAWK merchandise and other related images

* extra footage from the TV series, including the "This is Jesse Mach..." prologue and show open

* an optional bonus disc containing the first two episodes of STREET HAWK

* side-by-side comparisons of Canadian and U.S. versions of selected sequences

In addition to all this, DVD-ROM features are being considered. If you have suggestions on other features not mentioned above that you'd like to see included, or would like more information about this project, e-mail [email protected] with "STREET HAWK" in the subject line.

There is not a set release date for this DVD, but you can request to be notified via e-mail when the project is completed.

Well, I just finished a long e-mail to someone who was having patience problems, so I hesitate to give an exact date. Suffice it to say that it should be completed sometime next year, and that it will be a MAJOR project and therefore will be long in production before the final version is completed.

Sorry I can't nail it down, but it could just be a couple months, or it could be Spring or Summer, who knows? For what it's worth, I'm *really* looking forward to working on this project, and I'm anxious to get it finished so I'll be able to enjoy it, too! ;)

Thanks for the interest and encouragement. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you'd like to be kept up-to-date on my progress and on other PDTV releases.

I would like the dvd to have all features like a director cut version.

Unfortunately, the directors of this film are not involved in bringing it to DVD, so there can be no "Director's Cut" version. Also, PDTV does not have access to any deleted footage or behind-the-scenes material.

However, there are plans to include a "build your own" version in which the viewer can select elements of both the U.S. and Canadian pilot and mix them into a unique version of the pilot movie. There were distinct special effects differences between the two versions, and the Canadian pilot includes scenes that were cut out of the U.S. version. Both versions will be presented in their entirety, and it is very likely that the "build your own version" feature will make it onto the final DVD.

The projected release date for this project is June 2005, but it is more likely that a finished DVD will be available by the end of 2004. Visit the PDTV Yahoo Group at the link below to keep up-to-date on this and all other PDTV projects.

Thunderbirds Aren't Slow

i want it now with a few good commentarys too

Thunderbirds???

Sorry, but you won't get any commentaries on this DVD -- none of the cast or crew of the STREET HAWK TV series are participating.

As for "I want it NOW!" that never works. It'll be released when it's finished -- no sooner. Bare-bones "stick it in and play" DVDs of this show are everywhere. If you're too impatient to wait for one with decent menus and special features, check eBay.

Thunderbirds Aren't Slow

hay i like thunderbirds!
i can see what your getting at, it only lasted a few episodes and they have proberly put it to the back of there mind but us the fans at it were just won't let it go.
at lease some good extras and deleated scenes. also what they could do with it like they did with the dungeons and dragons dvd is have some fans commentary. it's worked with a few of them after all, like the president of the fan club. since were all here discussing it there has to be a fan club after all

Um, okay -- just didn't know exactly what you meant by that. Anyway, I think you misunderstand. As I mentioned in the original post, this is only a semi-professional effort. It's a couple steps above normal "fan-made" DVDs due to the software being used and the attention to detail, but PDTV does not have access to any material other than what's been released. I did mention that two different versions of the pilot exist (one for the U.S., another for Canada), and this product will include both of them, as well as special features that compare and possibly mix & match the two. That's about as close to "deleted scenes" as you'll get, but as the Canadian version is longer, and the U.S. version contains dialogue not present in the Canadian version, anyone who has just seen one version will definitely find something new on this release.

I will say that the project has been delayed, but unless an official version appears before it's completed, this project WILL be finished and released.

Thanks to all for your interest.

Count me in for the Street Hawk DVD release... It seems that this series has fallen under the same curse as The Greatest American Hero. Both were great shows that were tossed aside before they had a chance to really shine...

Please go to http://www.tvshowsonDVD.com and VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!! Your opinions and votes do count...

As of this writing, The Greatest American Hero will be out in over a month. Anchor Bay is starting work on getting Season 2 ready for eager fans to snap up... I hope that some of you will sign up and cast your votes... This is by far the best place to make our voices heard...

I bought my Street Hawk DVD Boxset on Amazon.co.uk. Best buy I had ever got. Loved all the DVD's

I want the re-mastered real deal and above all other special features I demand sub-titles for God's sake. Not just for the deaf, but for the fact that most of my friends aren't English and could do with English subtitles to help them understand.

Just wanted to let everyone know that after almost three years, this project is STILL on the slate of upcoming releases. Several other projects have taken precedence, but barring an official release, this project WILL be completed eventually.

A couple changes to the original plan:

The "build your own version" feature won't involve the entire film. It will instead be a limited "effects lab" kind of thing, similar to what's on the Terminator 3 DVD. However, both versions will still be included in their entirety.

In addition to the DVD of the pilot movie, "STREET HAWK Vol. 2" will be released (probably before the pilot DVD) containing all 12 regular episodes from the Bravo airings. Special features on this particular DVD will be minimal, (i.e. virtually none). The project will be a 3-disc set.

For any other details, questions, suggestions, or whatever, email [email protected] or contact me through IMDb.

Thanks for continuing to wait for these releases! :)
