street hawk movie
Having just watched 'torque' it got me think how great it would be to see Street Hawk remade on the big screen.
Any thought on this ??

It sounds great at first, but when you look at current action movies, more often than not, they seriously lack in quality and entertainment value. One bright spot however, in my honest opinion, has been The Punisher. Not so much for story or character development, but because they actually did all the stunts for real, and not on a computer. If they were to ever even think about a Street Hawk movie (which they probably won't), they would, at the very least, have to do any and all stunts in real life with actual motorcycles and stunt men, just like in the TV show. Even though people might think it's lame by today's standards, they did some really quality stunt work on the show. You have to respect that in some regard.
All in all, I think it would have the potential to be an entertaining film, but I'm not getting my hopes up for it anytime soon.
IMO, SH was ultimately a product of its time.
Back in the 80's, computers and high-tech were something new -- and hence, people were fascinated by them. Thus, we had high-tech helicopters (Blue Thunder, Airwolf), cars (Knight Rider), and motorcycles (SH).
I honestly don't think it would work today. Nowadays, people are a bit more blase' about high-tech stuff than they were back then ("High-tech motorcycle? Is THAT all there is?")

It might work if they do something along the lines of "Torque" -- something hyper-stylized.

What has happened with people using creativity? I mean if a genius can come up with a movie that started a craze back in the 70's known as Star Wars then I am pretty sure someone out there or a fan of the show could use their imagination to create a movie that would hit big in the movie form. It is eventually going to happen and you cannot say never though. I thought this show was great when I was 13 and imagined myself as Jesse on the motorcycle myself. I am pretty sure someone could add some concepts to the movie version of it that would appeal to everyone. I am very confident on that.
shareUntil some of the more popular "super vehicle" shows are finally made into movies (Knight rider, Airwolf etc) we're unlikely to ever see 'Street Hawk', but in this day and age of 80's nostalgia and copycat ideas, if the other movies are big hits...
'Cuz there's thunder in your heart... Every move is like lightning!
The only problem is that really worries me is that a lot of these movies that are made from television shows really worry me because there has been many flops in the box office that did not help out at all to get Street Hawk on the big screen. If I was one of these writers, directors, and producers. What I would do to make the movie a big success and hit with the new and old fans is I would sit and watch like a season of the television show.
I would stick to the creators idea from the T.V. show without altering anything at all about the original show. I mean you can tweak or change something a little but not to the point to where it totally alters the concept of the show that we all grew up watching and loving you know. I am just being honest about what I am saying about the movie.
If I was the one creating the movie or writing it. This is what I would do to stick to the same story line of the television show without major changes. I would sit down and take notes watching the T.V. show on how to make it work as a movie. MIAMI VICE was a huge flop I hate to say it because they totally went away with what and how the creator made the show.
I did not want to watch the movie at all when I saw the previews to it. I was like screw this going to the movies to see this movie. Those are my thoughts and ideas.
I totally agree with you there on that! It would be great to see it on the big screen!
