Why don't I remember this show?

For the life of me I can't remember this show! What network and day was it on? I was 19 to 23 during 85-89 and watched plenty of tv during that time but nothing about this show is familiar to me.

Hey, ALF was cool too. One of the few shows you can listen to without watching and still get all the jokes.

I knew about Small Wonder "back then" and I wasn't cool. It was a weird and corny show, and that's probably why I and others knew about it. The reason the OP probably didn't know about this show is because it was heavily syndicated and some areas probably just didn't carry it as much as others. A syndicated show that I liked to watch back (well around then, maybe a little later) was "Out Of This World". That show too was a bit corny, but at least the cast seemed to believe what they were doing rather than those from "Small Wonder". That might have been its downfalling. Odd concept shows survived back then as long as the cast made it believable.

Of course the more realistic shows like St. Elsewhere were awesome until the very end when you found out it wasn't real (which is an insult to the audience). St. Elsewhere's ending told the audience that the show about sex, drugs, and rock & roll in a hospital, originated from the mind of an autistic child. The show itself was great...the ending wasn't.

So in summary, you have shows like "Small Wonder" which expect the audience to be insulted and do nothing to fix it. And then you have good shows like "St. Elsewhere" which never insulted the audience until the very last moment. Either way, its all free entertainment, so we really have no reason to be spoiled.

Its 3am...and I'm no longer making sense. Adios.
