'Dated' Television

I had totally forgotten about this sitcom until, while watching 'Family Guy' with the audio commentaries switched on, the actors started talking about it and all my repressed memories about the show came flooding back. This as to be one of the most dated television shows going? Or is it? If it isn't one of the most dated (and lame) shows on the box it come pretty close. I mean honestly a robotic servant daughter, please, If that doesn't scream 80's nothing does.

The voice from that brain bug, made me do it!

Haha yup I had the same memory flood that you did, although not from Family Guy. Probably some I Love the 80's episode. REALLY, really lame show. Good thing I was a little kid and I didn't really care what I was watching on TV...

Sorry you guys feel that way. As for me I couldn't have done without shows like that and Alf and all the wonderful children shows that came on on Fox 17. That is what made our generation so much more obedient. Heck most of what is on now in tv sucks. It makes me glad to have been born in the 80's when my personality was being developed. My nephews never watch tv because of how lame the shows are these days. It's like where did all the people that made things like leave it to beaver and little house on the prarie go? Those were the good shows. Lame my butt. You guys had it good back in the day and if you really thought it was so lame then why did you watch it in the first place? If you hadn't watched it you wouldn't have all those lame memories coming back. It wasn't like you were forced. Sorry for the lecture but those shows were so well done. I mean come on where's your sense of adventure really? Can't you just imagine a robot daughter? Don't you have imagination? It's imaginatation that came up with things like star wars and star treck and probablly every other show or film that comes out these days. Get some imagination children. By the way anyone who wants to see any of these shows just go to www.ebay.com. I bought small wonder all 60 episodes for $54.

Angel I have to agree with you that back during the 80's there were a lot of great television shows that were family oriented. A lot of the shows now there are very few family oriented programs on now. I mean I remember watching Little House On The Prairie, Different Strokes, and other shows that were really great to watch. I just wished that they would start to air this show again. I would love it and pretty sure other people would as well also.

That premise will never be dated. A robot, as a daughter. Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner for best premise ever for a tv show.

That would have worked in prehistoric times (if they had tv back then, ha ha ha) and will work 3000 years from now. Altough by then, I bet there will be a lot of real robot daughters out there and the writers and producers will have to work extra hard for them to be relevent.

Well...when the dad, Ted, talks about Vicki the robot, he uses totally made up terms (you know, when the mom says sarcastically "that makes sense"...technology has come so far it is kinda fakey but not as bad as you would think!
By far though the funniest has got to be the episode of "Vikki and the Pusher" where a 30 something year old with a mullet comes to the playground and gives Vikki free drugs "the first batch is on me, this will have you walking on the moon" ...
it led me to have high expectations!! As many playgrounds I walked around, I never had a drug dealer come up to me and give me free drugs!! WTF!!!

I totally forgot about this show myself until I was looking up an actor and came across it. I haven't given this show a second thought until today and probably won't for another 25 years or so.

My fiancé and I were running down the list of 70's and 80's shows, and this came up. Holy crap...what nostalgia!

I watched an episode online on Youtube, and it was bad. I mean BAD. lol

Can't believe I loved such bad television as a kid.
