Vicki didnt know she was a robot?

Just heard the dad say that in one of the later episodes. Is that implied through out the series or did they make a mistake with the writing?

That episode was the most horrible, crappiest episode ever. Besides saying Vicki didn't know she was a robot (she knew), they said Harriet and Reggie knew she was one. Seriously. Harriet Brindle. If Harriet knew, there'd be mass produced Vickis because Brandon would have stole her and fired Ted.

I love Small Wonder with all my heart... but I detest that episode.

Lol, I thought the dancing was funny in that episode but youre right. I was confused when they made it seem like Reggie and Harriet knew Vicki was a robot. I thought I missed an episode. Not to mention that in the very next episode Jamie called Vicki a robot right to her face so that really confused me. The whole episode seems like a dream. I mean Small Wonder wasnt perfect but that was such a big mistake I wonder if that writer ever saw the show before.

I just rewatched that episode and the storyline has neither Harriet or Reggie being aware that Vicki was a robot. The storyline involved a tabloid newspaper creating a story that Vicki was a robot and the Lawsons tricked another paper into reporting that she was human by having the 4 kids pretend to be robots. It was obviously fake so that reporter reported that the story was false.

I just watched that one last night and missed the part where Harriet and Reggie were treated as if they already knew the secret.

As for Vicki not knowing she was a robot, I could see Ted adjusting her programming her in that way at some point, maybe even for a short period of time, just to see how she behaves but I believe he had her doing some very robotic things just a few minutes earlier. I don't think a father would ever tell a real daughter to open up the hatch on their back.

I remember reading somewhere that, if the planned spinoff focused around Vicki's twin Vanessa had come to fruition, there would've been at least one episode where she forgot she was a robot, or possibly it would've been a more permanent condition.

Plot hole plain and smiple. Of course she knew the entire time she was a robot and for ONE episode they denied that she knew. Bad writing IMHO but I still enjoy the show

If this was in season 4 (1989) - they could have had a cameo by Roger Penrose, who had just written The Emperor's New Mind. I'm not sure exactly how they'd work that into a *comedy* though..
