Surrogacy

They've gone grate efforts to show us the struggle and strain the suggracy is putting on Toadie and Sonya marriage when it something they don't even know Steph and Mark even want. If they looking for somone to have a baby for them and Sonya said to Toadie she interested would make way more sence so far this is just Sonya idea and her deciding for them they should have a baby they only been together like 6 months

Also few episodes back Toadie said it a legal requirement that the surrogate be done having children first. How on earth they going in force that. Sonya has the baby for them than few years later Toadie and her have another child together and what they get arrested

reply

They love having drama between Toadie and Sonya, I agree surely they would at least sound them out instead of arguing about it even if don't Sonya been the option. The last thing they are ready for his a kid, they never communicate and are often fighting. Sonya would be a better friend telling Mark and Steph to talk rather than planning behind their backs.

I know, it's a stupid offer. Also the law thing seems unenforceable to me too.

Why would they use Steph's egg when she could pass down her MH issues? Can you use a doner egg in surrogacy?

Why talk to Paul?

reply

I've heard of inseminating a donor egg - either from the carrying mother or a separate one - with the biological dad's sperm before, so it apparently is at least possible.

I think Paul and Steph are actually friends, and people discuss things like that with friends, or at least that's the point they're trying to make.

reply

I suppose, it just seemed odd to confide in him. I guess he was the first person she saw after the chat with Sonya.

reply

Maybe it was weird, but if there is something that Paul has experience with is, it's this.

Those who remember years ago - Gail and Paul went through IVF. Which back then was a huge deal, as surrogacy wasn't something that was often done.

That makes a lot of sense. It is a storyline that comes up again and again, and it feels different depending on the characters, I think.

reply

I don't remember that, but it would be cool to see Paul reference it.

reply

He's not the oddest, though - that'd probably be someone like Elly, that she knows but isn't very close to.
