reply

Oh yeah and Paige has just been painful since around time she got crush on Tyler and got mix up with stolen car stuff she just got worst and worst from there

reply

Agreed.

reply

Didge.

reply

Oh Amber to. And Josh when ever he was involved with Amber. When she first got with Daniel he was pretty likeable than whole baby storyline he slide downhill again. And when she left i thought he was pretty good till the end. Know I'd rather he moved to QLD and Daniel to of died

Speaking of Daniel same thing i really liked him right at the start then being with Amber just dragged him down. Difference is being apart from her didn't improve him didn't really like him why he was with Imogen either

reply

Yeah, Josh and Daniel and Imogen. Mason too.

I'm still racking my brain for oldies. Libby was annoying in the early days.

reply

Didge is in there. The personification of that *beep* horrible era of the show.

reply

Bloody hell! Lots of current/recent ones. Kate and Madison I agree. Also Elly. Will have to scratch my brain for some oldies.

I always hated Julie Martin, not sure if she was a bad character or just annoyed me.

reply

Oh, I thought Julie Martin was a masterpiece as a character. And one of the most brilliant things to have never happened on the show is seeing how she would have interacted with the Paul we know now. Think of that. Brother and sister, scheming Paul and bitchy Julie. It would have been so entertaining.

I've been watching the show for 16 years now, and while Didge was screechy and did that stare thing, no I actually think it's Aaron now, and Madison if she was a main character. Poor airhead Aaron. It's just ridiculous. But I've explained this all already.

reply

I actually agree now I've seen original Julie. It justifies Julie Martin era Julie too.

reply

Also, if you're able to watch clips of the two Julie's back to back, the two actresses actually have a lot in common. It's eerie. Julie had never actually seen the original Julie when she was hired to do the show. She didn't go back and watch anything. Then people are saying to her, "You've got similar mannerisms to the other Julie." If the first one's hair had been longer, I think that would have been even CLOSER.

reply

Yeah they are super similar.

That's pretty amazing she didn't reference the original Julie. Pre-internet, though, so I guess folks wouldn't think of it.

reply

I just realised it's his airheadedness that I relate a bit to with Aaron. I mean, I hope I'm not that bad but I do have my moments (sadly not like his one with David, lol).

reply

I'm sure I have my moments as well! I like to think I'm pretty "with it" most of the time but every now and then... Had about two hours sleep recently, and somehow don't ask me how I forgot to attend my meeting with the job agency. BANG! And I'd turned up to all the meetings like way before every single bloody time! But I got suspended. I was freaking out hardcore, on only two hours sleep. Since I don't drive, and no one was around to take me, plus I didn't want to bother other people either, I just rang up the cabs. I get out there, stand in the line, and they tell me everything in like fifteen minutes (This one's not my fault though, haha, because if you could actually call these people without flipping out that would have been easier. I tried like three times and it was like a nightmare "1984" or "Metropolis" style OMG.) So now I've had my fifteen minute chat and I just want to go home. I go out to the bus stop. Don't really want to risk that... I'll go up and ask this cab driver how you order cabs out here. The next thing you know the guy's said "Get in", and I've inadvertently stolen someone's ride!!!!!

I asked them to drop me off like four blocks away, because I just felt so guilty. Stupid, stupid prick, OMG..... Two hours sleep notwithstanding!!!!

reply

Job agencies are the agents of evil.

Lack of sleep is definitely one of those things that causes moments like that, though! I was away last week for a couple of days and got about that much sleep. So the next day I completely misread in a magazine and thought someone had come out and I was all... weren't they already out? They were coming out - to Australia for a concert.

reply

Nell Mangle

reply

Noooooo! I bloody loved her, she was perfect for that era. She wouldn't work now, I don't think.

reply

I agree with you, she was great. I think if she was still in it she'd have evolved to work now, but not as a new character now, if that makes sense?

reply

Total sense.

I'd just love to see a pious busy body cope in today's shenanigans. An ethical and caring type, with old-fashioned notions which they push on to others. I guess Mark is a close facsimile, as I've said before.

reply

Yes.

It would be interesting. I do think Mark is close, and he's not that bad most of the time. Just that his bad times make it seem worse.

reply

Both Mark and Mrs. Mangle were/are well-intended,albeit busybodies, they just lacked/lack the people skills.

reply

That is very true. Mark's people skills are non-existent about 85% of the time. I think that's what annoys me the most about him.

reply

I think it's kinda cool to have a young, male version of that character. Although Mark annoys the *beep* out of me most of the time.

reply

It really is. But yes, he is annoying. Honestly, it's not all that realistic for a cop to have so few people skills either.

reply

To be fair I have known a couple of coppers like that. They shouldn't be, but some are, I think it's borne out of stupendous arrogance.

reply

When are they going to make him a detective again? I keep waiting for that but it never comes.

reply

I didn't realise it was in the cards, to be honest. Was that his role before the witness protection?

reply

Yes. And when he went back to the police force, they said they had to "demote" him for a while. How many years has it been now? Would he have "advanced" by now? But then they hardly worry about this sort of thing with Dr Karl?

reply

Oh yeah, I remember that-good point.

reply

For someone whose not actually a detective he seems to be the one running around doing a lot of detective work though, even when he's been specifically told by his superiors to stay away... I thought he was currently suspended actually, but still seems to be running around doing cop work.

I'm writing this signature in bold so people know it's a signature

reply

He was reinstated post suspension, but there was little fanfare about it.

Yeah he's receptionist, constable, detective, sergeant, chief. Probably the janitor too!

reply

I guess there's a few like that. I think a lot of the time, too, he's just very focused on the law and it can make him seem a bit one-eyed.
