Top 3

Who would be your top three characters be to bring back? Dead or alive...Mine are

Helen Daniels
Nell Mangle
Danny Ramsay

Top 3 storylines to revisit?

Stripper in the street.
Conversion in to a man of the cloth, a la Mark and Annalise
Runaway teen who properly buggers off and turns to a life of crime.

reply

Characters:

Scott and/or Charlene
Jim Robinson
Annalise

Storylines:

Wedding disaster (Mark & Paige or back when with Brad & Beth)
Murder mystery (one body, one crime, several suspects and a real twist on who the killer is).
Any storyline playing out with consequences (still mad we haven't seen the outcome of Angelina).

Was Mark & Annalise like Jack & Paige in that he was a priest too?

reply

It was kinda the opposite... Mark left Annelise at the alter after he decided to become a priest.

I'm writing this signature in bold so people know it's a signature

reply

That would be interesting.

reply

The opposite. He was atheist or agnostic. He studied Catholicism for his wedding and decided to join the priesthood.

It would be cool to see a Jewish or Muslim version, just for a change. They wouldn't have to become celibate necessarily.

reply

Ah okay. Not the usual way of doing it.

Jewish could be interesting. I've seen a few shows where people converted for love but that'd be an interesting addition.

reply

Top 3 to bring back

Izzy Hoyland
Beth Brendan
Naomi canning

reply

Oh yeah! Naomi - good call!

reply

Yeah it was a good spin on it.

I like the Muslim idea, as it could be a good modern-day racism story. Especially if Trump takes over America.

Judaism is less offensive to me than Catholicism, as a faith and is a bit of change.

reply

I honestly can't think if I've seen it go that way - it's more often along the lines of Paige and Jack, or even not going that far and just being lots of unrequited feelings (I actually like that sort if done interestingly).

It could be a good story, but shoosh, that won't happen (I hope).

I think the Catholicism angle is the forbidden angle so as long as that exists it'll probably be used.

reply

Yeah, you're right. Celibacy is what makes these stories. A non celibate way would be a very staunch athiest, scientist type coping in a relationship with a religious person. It's riddled with controversy though.

The Muslim thing is too much of a hot button issue, shame, as it would be very topical.

Do you have a large Jewish/Muslim population in Aus?

reply

It does.

Or a religious or even very conservative person against someone vivacious and sexy - Elly and someone like that - would be funny, I think, or even Paige and Jack if he weren't actually a priest.

It is a bit.

We do, at least in the cities. I'm not sure if there are a lot in the smaller places comparatively.

reply

I'd love to see an Islamaphobia story. Jack could be the antagonist... Causing Paige to dump him.

reply

That could be interesting but oh god, let them stay together for a bit - after everything, if he decides to stay with her now, no real interruptions for at least six months of show. There can be fights and temporary "are we still together" stuff but no actual split for at least that long. If they are fully together now, of course, which I'm not even sure on. But I just feel like it's been long e-bloody-nough with the "I want her/I don't" crap.

reply

Yeah, I agree. 6 or so months of normality is needed.

It just would be a shameful way for Jack to go, and coz I hate him I was just being mean.

Plus if it was a Jack thing it could all occur near the church, meaning there isn't the need for a free house on Ramsay Street.

reply

Shane Ramsay - it would be great to have a Ramsay back in the Street and he was there at the beginning with Paul

Jim Robinson

And, above all, Beth Brennan. With Ned now having appeared, it's a perfect opportunity for her to return and I'd love to see her interactions with Terese and Lauren and how Brad would react to have the three women of his life together

reply

I would love to see Beth back and I've said before a recast wouldn't hurt after all these years.

reply

1. DEE - This one is actually happening.

2. The Ghost of Jim Robinson - increasingly unlikely. Alan Dale said in TV Week (there's an article on Digital Spy) just recently that he had problems with the producers, and not sure that it would be any different now. I just have to hope that Jason is SUCH a big fan that he wouldn't care about that, and so it wouldn't be an issue on THEIR end. This would be such a COOL one - Marley's ghost style - but my hopes have really faded again.

3. The Ghost of Julie Martin - THIS would be awesome.

Shane Ramsay I'd want to add as 4. Besides Paul's family, he's known Paul the longest now.

reply

Yeah Beth would be awesome. Obviously would be a recast, but someone who looks like Natalie Imbruglia would be cool.

reply

Well, Kip doesn't look that much like the previous Brad, so it wouldn't even be strictly necessary for her to look like Natalie as long as she fitted the role - and as much as Brad can be annoying, I do think Kip plays him well as written.

reply

No not necessary, I'd was just saying it as a personal preference, I prefer it that way. Kip Gablin plays the role fine, but it still niggles me that he doesn't look like 'proper' Brad.

reply

Libby be another good one bring back just as a guest. With Steph back and recent appearance of Adam. I hated whole Steph/Dan/Libby/Ringo death thing went down. Ended up being the exit storyline for lot of characters. Steph and Libby being such big parts of the show deseved better send offs. Steph getting her redeem now she back think Libby deserves hers to. And with Dee return be perfect time for Libby come back. Real extended guess role would be grate like 6 months but I'd settle for a month or 2

reply

Oh yes, I don't disagree either. I think I just decided at some point that either he bleached it before (when he was Scott) so Kip's is his natural colour, or he dyed it.

reply

Yeah, I do the same, haha. It does help that blonde hair darkens with age, so it kinda works with natural blondes too. I have to lighten mine nowadays. It's not as dark as KG's but mine was lighter than Scott's-so it kinda works.

That godforsaken picture of young Brad in the seating area, which is of Kip Gablin, that irritates me when I see it.

reply

It just seems to work and they're even kind of similar facially, at least close enough not to be too bothered for me. It does, yes. I used to be brownish-blonde when I was younger, now it's just brown (with a few grey bits).

Ah yes, that can be difficult.

reply

Is it true in Home and Away still use original Pippa in the flashback? I read that somewhere, that sounds cool. I used to watch it around the time they switched Pippas.

reply

I haven't noticed, honestly, but they did have some shots of her in the anniversary a couple of years ago and the second Pippa was in the show itself at the time.

reply

That's cool, albeit odd.

reply

It is - Vanessa (original) was short with wavy blonde hair and Debra (second) was tall with reddish brown hair.

reply

At the time I loved blonde Pippa. She looked the tiniest bit like Maid Marion in a kids' TV show we had here.

reply

I liked both. Was that the one where Maid Marion was the one who was really in charge of the Merry Men? I've heard of that one.

reply

Yeah!! It was called Maid Marion,(and her merry men).

It was AWESOME!!!

Had the best theme tune ever too.

reply

I just think it sounds like a fun take on the legend. I'm all for changes like that.

reply

It was done so well too. It was brilliant, 2-leveled stuff.

Robin was a vain fool.

Also, it had Tony Robinson in, and I adored Black Adder.

reply

Shane, Jim, and Beth would all be fab.

reply

Shane really should happen, especially if we can get back Madeleine West. Who besides Scott and Lucy from that period - who are still alive - would know Paul so well? Besides Danny, but he was Scott's classmate, not Paul's. This would be such a great one. But it's got to come out of something, I think, like Paul going down memory lane... which until very recently I got the impression he didn't very much want to do. Suddenly he's talking with Jimmy about Helen and Jim and Julie, and you could tell that he DOES think about the past more often than we think. The story I always wanted to see, again, was Paul having some kind of life and death experience. You've heard of people saying their life flashes before their eyes... Well, there you go! Paul's life flashes before his eyes, cue the clips and the ghosts! It's right there for the taking!

reply

Yeah. It would be good to see Paul soften a bit and remember he used to be a good guy.

As for life and death, he's had the fire, the explosion, cancer, and a tornado car crash. So it would have to top them. A begging for his life type situation, like getting kid napped or held hostage.

reply

There was this moment between Paul and Leo the other day. You probably caught it. I don't know. But Leo was being really condescending and calling him an "old man". This really stood out to me though and made me think. Heck, he IS getting older... and what does that mean in the business world? I was thinking, he has a heart attack, and his life starts flashing before his eyes, and he sees the white light. And they're playing all the clips from classic Paul episodes, but THEN they go that step further somehow... and show the ghosts on the other side. ANYTHING like that would be soooo epic.

Edit: According to Perfect Blend, Jim Robinson was born 1940. That means he was around 53 when he died. Paul turned 50 in either 2013 or 2014, so if he had a heart attack this year or next year, that'd be pretty eerie!

reply

That would be very cool. They could edit together some Anne Haddy stuff, a la Oliver Reed in Gladiator.

So is Alan Dale 76?! Crazy.

reply

Alan Dale is 69, so a few years younger. Sad to think that Jim would have been alive and well today otherwise. He and Lou were friends after all.

reply

It's a crying shame he died other than buggering off to Adelade, as they all did in those days.

reply

He and that witch lady he was going out with at the time DID say as well they were going to sail around the world. They could have done THAT.

reply

Eaxactly.
