Amber's actual reason was that Matilda was sick with a cold, but the others felt they couldn't handle seeing their mother marry someone other than their father. I think it was implied that Amber was probably relieved not to have to make the choice, too.

shareThey should've had telegrams! I always love telegrams at weddings. Not real ones in the age of the internet, emails would be more like it, but they could do emails from family and friends. That would've been a nice way to include absent family and friends.
