OT: Are any Australian viewers watching Whose Line Is It Anyway? AUS

shareJust currious cos us brits invinted that show.
shareNope, because I don't find the Australian one anywhere near as good as the UK or the US ones.
Sometimes Australians just try to hard to be funny, and it really doesn't work.
But when you look at the UK or US one, and guys like Colin and Ryan from both of them, they just have this knack for improv comedy, and it's not something everyone is good at.

Realy you guys dont have any famous comedians thats bad.
shareI think it's not so much that we don't have famous comedians, so much as I don't think most of our Aussie comics are good at that kind of improv, personally.
share"Thank God You're Here" was a great improv Aussie show, so popular the US made their own version. Rebel Wilson got her start on that show here.
I think it's insulting to say Australia don't have any famous comedians... we do. they're just only famous here. Same as how British and US stand-ups are only famous in there respective countries. I couldn't name a single British Stand up comedian at all. American one, yeah, but only cause of movies and even they've be out-dated (Adam Sandler).

Now you can tell I never watched that one.
Oh I agree - I know of a few comedians off the top of my head I'd consider famous and there's a lot more I wouldn't know because comedy isn't one of my favourite genres.
Mind you if you asked me to name a British comedian in at least half the cases I can think of, they are no longer with us.
The actor who played Tim Collins ( on Neighbours) was part of the ensemble cast of 'Thank God You're Here', I think there were a few others too but I'm having a mind blank right now.

I must check it out if I ever get a chance. The only one I know - don't know if he was part of the cast or a guest even - is Shane Bourne. Who would be one of the few comedians I can name off the top of my head, also.
shareShane Bourne hosted it each week, they had alternating stand up comics as weekly guests, 4 of them each week taking part in the as the improv with regular cast. It was a quite a good show don't know why it only lasted a couple of seasons, same with another Aussie show called 'Talking 'bout you generation'

With few exceptions, I think comedy shows (that aren't sitcoms) don't tend to last too long here for some reason? I mean, there are exceptions - I think sketch comedies have lasted a while - but generally, they seem to fade out after a couple of years.
