Platonic friendships

Paige and David

Amy and Aaron

Toady and Steph...gone off the boil a bit..

Mark & Sonya.

I love 'em. My favourite is Mark and Sonya, as they are both straight and could be more, but never will be. I just think it's a really nice edge to the show. My best friend is male and I'm female.

Ben and Piper

Iike Mark and Sonya to why bit unsure about this baby storyline I hope they don't cross a line

Sonya and lucus use be grate back in the day

reply

Oh yeah, we need more Ben and Piper.

Yes, I loved Lucas and Sonya too.I'm nervous they'll *beep* up Mark and Sonya. I really hope not.

It's a shame Toadie and Steph seem less close, but maybe Dee will bring them closer.

reply

I have a bad feeling the Mark & Sonya friendship will be ruined and they'll end up having feelings for each other but I hope not. Makes a nice change in a soap having a friendship with nothing getting in the way.

I love the Toadie/Steph friendship and think it got over the annoying part when Toadie fell for her.

We need more Ben and Piper they had a good fun friendship but hardly see them together now.

reply

Do Karl or Susan have any platonic opposite-sex friends? Maybe Susan and Gary a little?

reply

Susan and Paul have been close at times

reply

Don't recall Susan sharing many scenes with Gary at all. Maybe Toadie and Sonya but now with this surrogacy story they've moved to Steph and Mark, though Karl did give Toadie advice at one stage. Lauren seems to be the resident friend for anyone but she's wrapped in her own family too so Karl and Susan really seem on their lonesome really. Don't think Susan has had a proper friend since Lyn, and Karl since Ajay.

reply

Lauren is quite the resident saint at the moment. I like to have a character who is just a good egg, but still gets storylines...Much like Lou was and Harold towards the end. I like Lauren.

Susan and Paul were good mates and are still kinda frienemies. Plus she is close with Lauren, Sheila, and Terese, but no BFF.

Karl's best bud is Toadie, I'd say. Which I find really sweet, as they are like father and son.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

She is, but so far she seems to be staying on the right side of too good. I like her very much.

Susan and Paul yes. I feel like that's a storyline she could have, a good friend.

That is sweet.

reply

I know, it seems a bit forced, but at least there is one character who isn't at all irritating.

Yes, that would be a good storyline & character introduction.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

In that storyline, that's definitely a good thing.

I think so. Though maybe at least while she's on, Dee could be that, too?

reply

That would be nice, but very hard for Sonya. In fact Karl & Susan are going to be stuck well in the middle.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

Oh of course. It's going to be so hard. I really feel like it's all going to be good - just because the start is so good. But yes, hard for everyone.

reply

I think Steph was a bit out of order to Mark. I guess they're just showing that she doesn't see this baby as her's.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

Or she was defending Dee - I can see this being a one side or the other thing for them, given Steph's closer to Toadie and Mark to Sonya.

reply

I still think any decent person would be concerned for Sonya, Especially the baby - if you considered it to be your's.

Sonya is taking it like a bloody champ, though.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

I was thinking to do with this trying to reconcile things with the family, they may have had one or two?

Oh yes, she seems close to Sonya, and Karl and Toadie are cute too.

Interesting.

Maybe Sarah, sort of, too? But that was a bit complicated.

reply

We don't see enough of them but I do like Ben & Piper.

I like all of them. I really like how Paige and David are happening, too. I wonder if Paige and Leo might count if they stay platonic as well? I think they might if he ends up with Amy eventually.

Are there any good non-related male friendships (I love the Brennans and Leo and David, of course)?

reply

Toadie and Gary seen pretty good friends as are Brad and Toadie

reply

Yes to both of these! I was trying to think of Brad & Toadie - they were so funny in the lead up to Brad & Lauren's wedding, too, bromance forever.

reply

Tyler and Ben use have brother like friendship wish would revist

Also seeing as Ben is the son of Steph best friend could have been nice for them have a bond

reply

I'd like to see that. Maybe as things smooth out with Piper it will happen? I can just see the four (Ben and Xanthe, Piper and Tyler) doing couple things together.

Oh that would be good, yes.

reply

They really need to give Jack a friend (other than Paige) so he shows some purpose. He seems so out of place just floating around with whom he interacts with and with no family whatsoever it's even more obvious. They hinted at him and Amy having a friendship but it didn't really develop and she made good friends with Aaron instead, which was needed for Aaron as he was the previous floater.

reply

I agree about Jack. I loved the friendship he had with Amy. They were adorable but they seem to drop that to focus on Paige. I also like that he was close to the Brennan's at the start but dropped that for Paige aswell

Toadie and Steph's friendship is okay but I've never got back into it really since he fell for her and they married. Kinda spoilt it for me. Even now I'm always doubtful they'll go back there

Paul and Steph are cute so was Lucas and Sonya.

I adore Mark and Sonya's friendship the best but they may spoil it now. On the one hand I'd love them to get together but on the other hand I don't want to spoil their friendship and split Toadie and Sonya up

reply

Paul and Steph, of course!! That's a nice friendship.

I really hope they don't spoil Mark & Sonya. I definitely prefer them as friends than a romance.

🐨Have you ever?...Ever felt like this?🐷

reply

I knew I'd forgotten someone, Paul and Steph are great. The thing is, they are one couple I really would never see together romantically, I just can't see them going there. I like that, though.

reply

I agree, but I hate Jack and think he doesn't deserve friends. Brad and him were close at one point.

back in the day really liked the friendships Chris had with Summer and Tash

reply

Ahh, I was on hiatus then, but Chris and Amber were good pals. I always found it an odd pairing though.

reply

Lucy to Chris: Well we've known each other since yesterday, do you want to make a baby together. Now THAT was a weird pairing.

I'm writing this signature in bold so people know it's a signature

reply

Haha, true.

reply

Summer was Chris girlfriend be he came out

and Chris and Tash bonded after came out that Tash lied about being pregnant to Andrew (and think Chris may been bit outcast for coming out maybe?)

so those friendships made much more sense and felt natural

reply

Sounds like some interesting storylines. I really regret my hiatus.

reply

I always loved the storyline where Chris came out. That's what got back me into the show actually after "the dark ages" lol.

reply

Wait is that the baby Lucy came back with? How very weird.

reply

Maybe if he has a good friendship and seems to exist outside of Paige and the church, though, it might make him better? I don't mind him, but I think it would be super good for him character wise. Though yes, he and Brad were. Maybe they could both be redeemed character wise that way.

reply

I agree, it would be good for Jack to have more people to anchor him.

You'd think Aaron would have had his brothers at least, but yes, I saw that with him, too.

reply

At one stage, it got really bad there with Aaron for me. And he kept messing everything up. That's where the whole Frank Spencer thing came in lol. Finally he has another storyline with David.

reply

I remember! Though I feel like they started to change him last year and it's coming out more (no pun intended!) with David? But yes, I think it's good, and I just said that maybe the storyline with Tyler and his dad, however they end up going with it now, will be another good storyline for him.

Wasn't he in some kind of a relationship one with Nate, too, though? I know they split up, but was that with him being a bit odd as well?

reply

Ellie and Leo, I think they've only ever been platonic (?). I liked that they bonded over their shared mean-ness, but they seem to have watered both of them down now.

reply

Oh yes, they have! Though I do wonder if Amy ends up full on rejecting Leo, if they might go there for them, but at the moment, they're platonic and really quite sweet, given that they bonded over not being sweet. I think they have, and I think that's good.
