Moonlighting Turns 25!

It really is hard for me to believe that it has been so long. It is fitting today to pay tribute to one of the most unique and inventive shows of the 80s.

We'll walk by night, we'll fly by day, moonlighting strangers, who just met on the way...

I agree with you except for one thing. I think it was THE most unique and inventive shows of the 80s, or any era. I'm a big fan of David E. Kelley shows like Ally McBeal and Boston Legal. They sometimes broke the fourth wall. Ally was famous for her hallucinations which were hilariously enhanced by animation. Both shows had some really wild characters and plot lines. But Moonlighting is in a class by itself. I've said this before but I'll say it again, this show didn't just break the fourth wall, it destroyed it.

Last time I said it, I was complaining, but this time I'm not. I just watched an episode that was a parody of Casablanca for a large chunk of it. After that, I watched an episode in which the show ended early and Herbert got out in front of the crew and the writers (who were on strike and holding up signs) and lip synced "Woollie Bully." Crazy, but lots of fun. I don't know of any other show that's nearly as inventive.
