Calla's mother?

I notice that there is no mother character to Calla. I do not believe there are any references to Calla's mother, but everybody has one...

Any speculations on what happened to her? Most likely, she died and there was no mention of her. But could she also run away? Defected to another kingdom, abandoning Calla? I have always wondered what other people's spins on it are...

Although she is often overlooked, Calla is one of many motherless Disney pricesses. Lets do the list

Jasmine (Alladden)
Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Cinderella (Cinderella)- step mothers don't count
Show White (Show White) ditto Cinderella
Nalla (The Lion King) ok she had a mother but who was her father?

I'm sure there are a few that I'm forgetting but Disney's #1 rule seems to be that all princesses, whether born to the role or destined to become one by marriage, must be raised by a single parent.

Preferably a protective father who doesn't want his daughter to marry the wrong guy! It's a good point you made, Norman_Bigfish. Subconsciously I must have noticed that none of these major princesses had mothers, but it's quite a long list when you look at it like that!

And even though Jane of "Tarzan" never became a "princess", her mother is dead too, making professor Porter another one of Disney's single fathers. And let's not forget about Max's mother in "Gooftroop" and the following movies. Where is she? And did Pocahontas have a mother around? And of course, there's "Finding Nemo".

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

reply

Actually, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) had both parents and was raised by three fairy godmothers (Cinderella would be envious if envy were part of her character).

Princess Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron had no parents, although she does refer to her father I think. I haven't watched it for several years, but she is always overlooked as a Disney princess.
