If you go to tvshowsondvd.com you can vote to have your favorite shows put on dvd,and Gummi Bears(as well as other popular animated series from the Disney Afternoon)is one of them. You'll have to register first I think.
Sure, but these DVDs aren't the official release by the Studio. It would be great if the Studio could release the original episodes on DVD, without the theme song playing after each 12 minute episode. It does become monotonous.
I really, really want to see this show again and it seems like the only way to do it is to buy the illegal copies! I don't like to support piratism but if Disney don't do something soon I'm going to cave in. I know that Ducktales and Chip N Dale are soon to be released on dvd so maybe there will be some hope for this one and some of the other great cartoons of the 80s and 90s.
I don't know what they're thinking - I mean, they've released shows like My Little Pony and Jem, for goodness sake! - which are cute and all, but they just don't have the Gummi Bears magic! I mean, have you ever found anyone who DOESN'T like Gummi Bears? Even people in their late 20's like me, who've loved it for 20 years (wow I'm old ) still love the show!
Come on Disney!
Never judge things by their appearance. Even carpet bags. I'm sure I never do.
One of the ways we can increase the chance of getting Disney to release Gummi Bears, Drakwing Duck etc is to buy the DVD's of Chip N Dale, Gargoyles and Ducktales. But showing them there is a market for the Disney Afternoon shows on DVD they will continue to release them, also sending emails to Disney asking about availablity will show them that people are interested. I just hope if they do release Gummi Bears (What am I saying, WHEN they release Gummi Bears on DVD) they proper Chronology will be kept in tact as it is important to Gummi Bears more than anyother Disney TV series other than Ducktales ard Gargoyles.
Right on, kathco. There are few children cartoons that can come close to GI Joe, Gummi Bears, Scooby Doo, Duck Tales, Inspector Gadget, etc. I do think Spongebob and Rugrats are quality shows, but that's about it.
And where are the Disney toons? Aside from Winnie The Pooh (at 5:30 am) and House of Mouse (produced not too long ago), Disney has nothing to offer. I don't get ToonDisney anymore, but have noticed that many of the great 80s and 90s shows have been replaced by the newer line of drab toons.
I'm in my mid-20s and still love these toons. I watch a lot of cartoons because I have many relatives that are young. But I also watch on my own quite often, I guess maybe to try to hang on to part of my childhood as things in life keep getting more difficult. I do watch several of todays shows but don't really care for any other than S'Bob and Rugrats (non-Disney, of course). I guess I also watch because I watch so many dramas, and it's good to relax with a light-hearted show sometimes.
Maybe I'm forgetting a couple shows, but it seems as though the only mentionable recent Disney cartoons are House of Mouse and Recess. I do like Book of Pooh, although mainly because it's a Pooh show; I don't think it comes anywhere close to the first shows and movies.
tvshowsondvd.com is a great site to find information about upcoming releases. I'm going to register right now to vote for some of these classics, because I think it would be a travesty if some of them aren't released, especially since the kids of today and tomorrow deserve the right to be able to watch them.
I am 26 years old and I grew up with the disney afternoon. I often check Amazon.com to see if any of these show are being released on DVD. When I saw Ducktales and Chip and Dale available for pre-order, I was ecstatic. I quickly ordered a copy of both. Now I bring a mini DVD player to work with me and watch an episode during my lunch break. It's what gets me through the day. ;)
I can't wait for Gummi Bears and Talespin to be released on DVD as well. - They must release them Sometime!! Everyother show that's ever been on TV is being/has been released on DVD. WHY not the Gummi Bears?!?!!!
And much better to release these classic quality shows than churn out another tired cash-in sequel to a Disney movie of yesteryear. Man, I hate those sequels to films that don't need them! Once they'd done Cinderella 2 I knew there was no stopping them. "They all lived happily ever after" for crying out loud. No sequel required! *rant over* ;)
I am getting ready to have my first child and I would love to be able to share a cartoon with my child that I loved and grew up with! I really hope they will eventually put shows like Gummi Bears, Duck tales, etc.. on DVD.
They have Gummi Bear episodes at you tube. They have "The Magnificent Seven Gummies" "A Gummi A Day Keeps The Doctor Away " and "Secret Of The Juice " I watch them all the time because the gummi bears were such a great part of my childhood!!!
i bought the complete series on ebay and the quality is great. there is no need to wait for the 'official' disney release. disney is too slow releasing their vintage cartoons.
great news guys, www.ultimatedisney.com says gummi bears is coming to DVD Nov. 14, all three seasons in one set. :) Don't know about ya'll but, I'm excited!
I did read that this dvd includes 47 episodes, which, going by episode listings that I've made from my old tapes, and ones online, is more than half of what there was, so if they do release a second dvd set it will probably be much shorter.
To be honest, the last season or two weren't that good, in my opinion, so I probably wouldn't buy that second dvd if they ever do it.
