DTV movies based on old Disney Afternoon shows viable?

Tad Stones (co-creator of Darkwing Duck and Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers and director of the Hellboy animated movies) has said in several interviews and podcast and stuff, that now that Disney has stopped making "cheapquels" to their animated movies, that should instead make direct-to-video movies continuing the old Disney Afternoon shows, which the people who watched the shows as children could watch with their own children. I wonder if such films would commercially viable, and if Disney Animation big shots (like Roy Disney, John Lasseter, Don Hahn, and others) would even want to continue the legacy of the Disney Afternoon. What do you Guys think?

That would be cool, but doubtful to happen. Some people may not even remember those cartoons.

:( I remember...

I would LOVE to see a Darkwing Duck movie, I was always SO disappointed as a kid that there was never one made. Who cares about watching it with my kids, I'd watch it on my own! Haha
