Buying cartoon dvds

Okay, I admit I'm 30 and I would like to own this dvd set... as well as collect other Saturday morning animation. I would like to buy them for myself. Are there any people out there who buy strictly for themselves, not for a niece/nephew or son/daughter?

I just hope I'm not in the minority for this. I'm screwed up enough as it is... don't need this making it worse. *laughing out loud*

Well I'm 20 and have a huge old school cartoon DVD collection that I got for myself. I love all the cartoons I watched as a kid and still do. There's absolutely nothing wrong with watching cartoons as an adult, especially if they give you nostalgia. Hell, I bring up cartoons like Gummi Bears all the time to everyone just to see if they remember them.

Okay... glad I'm not the only one... here's what I've collected so far... Gummi Bears (just picked it up this weekend), Transformers, the original series (all three seasons and the movie) all three seasons of Beast Wars, and the first six dvds of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (except dvd #3) and I really want all the seasons of ReBoot on dvd.

No, you're not alone! I'm nearly 28 now, and I was obsessed with the Gummi Bears when I was six or seven (and eight, nine, and a few years after that!) I had them all on tape and I would watch them every day after school. I always said that if there was one tv show I would be sure to buy if it ever came out on dvd, it would be Gummi Bears, and it did, eventually. It might look somewhat incongruous next to my other tv shows (X-Files, Friends, Buffy, Angel, Ally McBeal, The Nanny....) but who cares!? It's 100% just for me (I don't have ANY nieces, nephews, young cousins, or even friends with children) but I've had a lot of excited comments from people my age and older asking to borrow the dvds!

I'm 27 and just bought this DVD for myself. I also have Darkwing Duck, Talespin, and TMNT Vol. 3. Interesting that someone above me has all the TMNT except that one; I have a fondness for "The Maltese Hamster" and don't feel the need to buy the rest.

I have a nephew, but I'm a little selfish :p Still working on my own collection, but when he's a little older - and I'm a little richer - I'll get some cartoons for him.

I was in Best Buy the other day and saw a Gumby DVD. FYI The Smurfs are being released on February 26, 2008!

I'm 21 and I just bought volume 1 of the gummi bears. I grew up watching this show and I loved it as a kid. I don't think it matters how old you are if you grow up watching a show and you wanna bring back some of those memories as a kid.

Like I said, the kids at the day care where I work LOVE these cartoons! The parents thank me for "sharing" them with the kids. A few of the kids have even convinced their parents to buy them Gummy Bears and Duck Tails...hehe, I've started something!

Well amongst my many trade I have so many of the old tv series that used to run in the 80's and 90's. I am 27 and I am married and have two children. However dvd box sets such as Gummi Bears, Duck Tales ect... Those are mine. I love theses series and I will plan on getting more shows on dvd as they are released. I have well over 3500 dvds, I feel like I should have so many more. I cant wait to see how my library looks in my new house one day. My goal is to have every wall in one room covered with movies. Top to bottom. I am working my way there, only about 100thousand dvds left to collect, lol.
Anyway I will let everyone know when I have a room that is completly covered in dvds. Until than have fun all and keep collecting.

From personal experience 14,382 dvds fills up a good size room from wall to wall pretty well. Everybodys covered the basics, Smurfs, Gummis, Ducktales... Where's my Mr. T, Shirttails, Snorks, Thundarr, Rubik The Amazing Cube... Not to mention all the 80's Marvel toons. I see boot sets of the Hulk and Spiderman & His Amazing Friends, but they're outrageous for the price/quality. More than anything I'd kill for Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys. Thankfully Hanna-Barbera has started to catch up a bit but it'll take The Herculoids and Thundarr the Barbarian for me to be really happy. And for the record I'm a 32 yr. old kid that never plans on growing up. My son and I do Saturday morning cartoons like it should be... He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers, C.O.P.S., Smurfs, Flintstones, Jetsons, Talespin, Ducktales, Darkwing, Chip N' Dale, Batman, Superman, Spiderman... and a big box of dry cereal. The best part is there's no Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom, or any of that to spoil the fun. Saturday the way it should be.
