Hypothetical Growing Pains Revival Series

In the revival, I'd have Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns return as both Jason and Maggie Seaver, who in the revival are now retired, Jason from Psychiatry and Maggie from Congress; Jeremy Miller, as youngest son Ben, would be newly divorced after 10 years of marriage with a 7-year-old son named Christopher "Chris" Andrew Seaver (named in honor of little sis Chrissy, played in sporadic appearances by Ashley Johnson, with Chrissy studying to become a School Psychologist); Mike (Kirk Cameron), still married to Kate (Nancy Mueller), in a nod to Kirk's real life, quit acting and has spent the last 10 years as a Preacher with his own Ministry; Tracey Gold as eldest daughter Carol, meanwhile, has a 10-year-old son named Luke (named after Leonardo DiCaprio's character Luke Brower) and her own husband, Don Johnson (not to be confused with the actor from "Miami Vice," though the character would be named in Johnson's honor).

Together, like on the original series, the entire Seaver family is living together once again, joined on a frequent basis by retired Baseball idol Tom Seaver, playing himself as "Uncle Tom Seaver," joined by Tom's real-life wife Nancy and their 2 adult daughters, playing themselves as the Seaver cousins.

Confused about Nancy Mueller when Kate's played by Chelsea Noble.

I believe that is her given name. Chelsea noble is her stage name

Why not just a complete reboot. A new cast, redo some episodes with more modern twists. Of all the late 80's through 90's family shows that could transition into a modern reboot easily I would think Growing Pains could do it.

Face it Kirk Cameron is too polarizing and his beliefs don't make him a bad person, but would eventually become a problem. A few of his statements on gays, and other popular news subjects have rubbed cast members the wrong way. You can't really have Growing Pains without him, he's just as central to the show as the rest of the cast...and limiting his appearances would be weird. He'd have to be recast...and that would suck Alan Thicke probably wouldn't come back. Ashley Johnson probably doesn't care. Doing a reunion movie is one thing but having to do this every day is probably not something most of these people really would want to lock into.

Besides, I think there is a lot of story left to be told about this family as....a family. Not a a load of adults forced into scenarios where they are a part of each others lives. Better to completely recast the whole show, place it in 2015 instead of 1985 and show us a modern 21st century family. Old cast members could pop in in cameos. And those could be creative. Imagine the new Jason Seavers parents played by Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns. And the new Maggies parents could reference the other 80's family show by having her parents Tony Danza and the Judith Light. That would be cool.

Instead of porn hotline...Ben gets caught checking out porn online. Mike trys tinder dating and lies about his age...ends up in trouble. There are so many new things the family could explore about todays culture. I think it would be cool. And with reboots and retro things being hot now...I'm surprised no studio has thought of it yet.

If you like something, don't forget to really oversell it so it can disappoint everyone else.
