I'm so sad again
I recently just got all seasons on DVD from xmas. Now I have no message board to go to to chat about one of my favorite shows.

In seriousness, it's a corny but also pretty good show. I used to be obsessed with it when I was little back when Disney Channel would show re-runs. I still enjoy it now, but I watch it in a different light after knowing all the behind the scenes issues that went on (Kirk Cameron and religion, Tracey Gold's anorexia, Leo DiCaprio being their last hope for ratings, etc). I think season 5, even though Kirk forced some re-write changes, was still the last great season of the show and had the familiar feel that seasons 1-4 had. Season 6 and 7 with new producers and the different writing direction had a good chunk of pretty good episodes, but compared to seasons 1-5, felt really different with the new producers, Kirk's influence, and Chrissy's age jump.
Smile again, that is cute. I'm in the middle of season 5 and what a change. The first 4 were defiantly the best seasons. They were more enjoyable when they were kids.
shareYeah. I used to watch it all the time when I was younger, obsessed almost, especially since in some ways I was similar to Mike. I look at it different now knowing all the behind the scenes issues. And yeah, seasons 1-4 were the best, with 2-4 being at its peak (season 1 looked like it was trying to find its footing). Season 5 was still good, but you could tell that there were sudden changes. It's extremely weird watching the Looove Boat Parts 1 and 2 from season 4 then watching the season 5 premiere Anger With Love. It's weird because the 2 part season 4 finale was being built up to the big reveal of Mike and Julie's relationship. Then there's the season 5 premiere, which is the aftermath of the reveal. Then all of a sudden, the next episode, due to Kirk Cameron getting Julie McCollugh fired, has Julie suddenly leaving Mike in a dear john letter.
