Wasn't this the series where in the last episode someone was abducted by an UFO?

reply

I've just seen it on youtube. Great! In the 80's, everything seemed to be possible...

reply

I can't believe this actually happened,i thought id dreamt it,anyone know what happened after this how they explained it tied it into the story etc,any info would be good.

The writers were very smart and knew their soap! Jacqueline Susann wrote a novel called "Once is Not Enought" where after 300 pages of melodrama the heroine is whisked away by a UFO. It infuriated fans of the "Valley of the Dolls" author but generated lots of controversy and sales. Probably the writers hoped to get a similar reaction from viewers. Later, when "Fallon" returned to "Dynasty" she described the aliens and their spacecraft to her disbelieving hubby, "Jeff": "It smelled of cinnimon." she said. He replied dryly; "Were they baking?"

reply

Yeah watch clips on YouTube of it. The spaceship looks convincing, the alien maybe not. A man in a grey rubber suit.

The writers were not smart at all, they were stupid and talentless. Not only was this the last scene of the flop series The Colbys, but the UFO scenario dragged Dynasty right down with it.

reply

Dynasty was already on its way down before The Colbys, which was far superior to Dynasty at the time. The UFO was tacked on by series creator Richard Shapiro, who also helped to kill the series. But the writing was far superior to Dynasty at the time. Dynasty didn't improve until the last season.

reply

Dynasty was NUMBER ONE just before The Colbys. And there was nothing superior about The Colbys - it was just third-rate trash with a first-rate budget.

reply

Stop trying to defend Dynasty's failures. Dynasty was in trouble. Just admit it. The Colbys might not have been Masterpiece Theater but it sure as hell was superior to Dynasty's 6th and 7th seasons.

reply

I'm not trying to defend Dynasty's failures (though it could be argued that The Colbys was one of its failures). Dynasty started to go downhill fast after the 1985 massacre, but The Colbys was a piece of sh*t right from the start and had no redeeming features at all.

I'd say Charlton Heston was a pretty big redeeming feature on the Colby's.

F'ing sh!t up since 2008! http://www.willferrellfanforum.tk/

Certainly the best acting rug on TV in the mid 80s. I swear it moved by itself once in a scene he had with Stephanie Beacham.

reply

His rug was so bad, even for 80s standards and wasn't he once "Hollywood Royalty"? He no longer and didn't have the looks, the charm, the screen presence as Forsythe. Just an old man with a bad rug and no sex appeal.
