I remember I used to watch this show all the time, or at least I thought I did, but so much of it I don't remember now watching reruns on OWN. I never remember Paul Winfield being on it as a replacement for Rose (Alaina Reed) the landlord. I did wonder how did Rose lose the building.

Rose couldn't keep up with all the repairs that needed to be done to keep the place within code so she gave it up to him and he paid for the repairs to get it up to repairs. She made a stipulation that made sure he didn't raise the rent.
