'Polit'...what's the explaiation?

Anyone that bought the first set DVD or was a fan of the series knows that the "Pilot" (also the title of the first show) makes absolutely no sense what so ever unless the second part of it comes later (I've only watched most of the first disc). I'm of course reffering to landlord Calloway dying and leaving the apartment to Rose (and right after that Mary's "surprise" backfires with Rose having to pay for repairs in order to own the building). But then Calloway is back (although off camera again) in the very funny episode four "The Refriderator". So was the pilot just something they tried out and didn't like? I know that they do things in the pilot and change them as the series goes on but they seemed to have changed what could have been a major part of the series. If this has been posted here, I apologize.

I'm watching episode 11 and I guess that explains it....although it would have made more sense to make this the second episode.

These episodes were put on the discs in production order, not in the order they first aired, that's why its so confusing. You can go to some great websites like TV.COM that feature episode guides to a lot of series, including 227. That's how I'm watching the first season on dvd, I look on the episode guide, to see how they were first aired. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip but I already thought it was set up by when the first aired. Most are, aren't they?

Yes, but this was an exception.
