Ok, Mr. Calloway, the building owner died in the pilot, so why is he still the owner of 227 and is still mentioned as such in the first season?

I think the DVD has the episodes in an incorrect "timeline" order - and pilot episodes aren't always the "first" episode timewise, they're made to sell the show.
