Did you still like the show after Sandra left?

I would say,

Heck no! The show was god awful, they had to add four goofballs to fill Jackee's shoes!

The sex appeal was gone, that's why most people watched the show after Sandra Clark left(i.e: Jackee's ego was too big, she thought she didn't need the show, boy was she wrong....). The dialogue between Sandra and Mary was too impact and when she left, they tried to emulate it with Julian but it didn't work.
Dylan the corny teacher(how in the world they let this doofus in a school is beyond me), Travis the hyper breakdancer, and Eva the dumb blonde weaved baby voice loser who couldn't hold a job didn't fit the mold of this show!

By the way, Is it just me or did the producers try to make Alania Reed Hall a sex symbol after Jackee left..ex: the long reddish hair and some of the outfits she wore from frumpy Rose to Gypsy Rose Lee.

I swear I thought I was the only one that thought that about Rose trying to become sexy. Those weave's and contacts I was like look at Rose. I'm not taking anything away from Rose because I thought she was a pretty lady also but she's not no Saundra Clark

the show made a BIG mistake letting Jackée get away!!

Hot damn, I thought I was the only one that noticed that once Jackee left, Alaina Reed Hall was trying to filled the 'sexy neighbor' void. I was like, 'what the hell?' I didn't want to look at the woman who taught me my ABC's on Sesame Street as an sex symbol...

But yeah, i stopped watching once Jackee left, after that, the sex appeal of the show was OVAH!

I liked the show all the way through, BUT, I too liked it better when it focuased on Mary,Lester,Brenda,Pearl,Calvin,Rose, and Sandra

btw Didn't Rose have a daughter who seemed to have disappeared early on

for the record, I didn't noticed Rose becoming sex but I will pay attention and see if I noticed it

Once Jackee left, they put Alaina in show-off'ish' clothes and makeup once she started dating that really tall cop(I think his name was Warren), as if they were trying to fill the sexy void.

After Jackee left, I had to stop watching. Jackee was classy and sassy not to mention the sex appeal she brought to the show.

Nope, 227 just wasn't the same when Sandra left. If she wasn't in the episode, I wouldn't watch.

From what I read in her interviews the producers (per Marla Gibbs) asked her to tone down the comedy. So she wouldn't be the focus of the show. Jackee declined and eventually left the series. Years and Years later, Marla since apologized to Jackee and now the 2 are good friends from what she says.

I watched 227 solely because of Jackee. Once she left, it did seem like she took the funny with her because the show sucked ass once she left and they brought on Robert DeNiro's ex-girlfriend, the unfunny white teacher, and the dancing dude from The White Shadow.

I do remember back in the day reading something about the Marla/Jackee feud. I also remember when Jackee was on Arsenio Hall and he asked her about the feud, she basically danced around the question.

Rose just looked crazy with all that weave, contacts and clownish makeup that made her look like a zombie. Yes, the show went downhill after JH left because they tried too hard to feel her shoes with people you just didn't care about. I hated every time that white guy would come onscreen with his corny ass jokes and bad skin.

The show still had some funny moments after Jackee left. I really think if she stayed they would have been renewed for the 1990-91 season. The white teacher was corny along with the chick Ava. Marla Gibbs and Paul Winfield's back and forth kept things interesting that last year.

No. Without her, it felt like the end. Julian and Travis were both brought in to fill Sandra's void in their own way; Julian being Mary's adversary -- ala Sandra...while Travis was like a male version of Sandra in personality.

But I have to say that Alania Reed's transformation was already happening while Jackee was still on the show. From season 3 on up, Rose cease being that dowdy homely character she was early into the show.

I didnt so much mind the addition of Dylan, because I think Barry Sobel is so funny and underrated but Travis, Julien, and Eva were poor replacements for Sandra.

Also, the backdoor pilot episode for her show was terrible. I wish she had just stayed on 227.
