Amen was better than 227.
That is all that is needed to be said.

Amen didn't have the sexy that was Jackee. The end.

Eh, I felt like I was at church when I watched Amen even when I didn't want to be. Plus 227 was more memorable with Saaaandra, and Pearl hanging out the window.
I missed you so much I followed you today.
Another bonus that 227 didn't have that Amen did...that damn Thelma.

Thelma and her Roooo-ben. Even "Tootie" was on 227 for a minute. All I remember was that Sandra took her under her wing and she wore too much makeup. Have to find that episode.
I missed you so much I followed you today.
IMHO Amen was better because it had Clifton Davis
and i loved the charactor of Rolly but can't remember hwo played him...

I like them both! "Amen" was hilarious and "227" was funny as well. It had a nice wholesome feel to it. I wish more shows were like "Amen" and "227."

I wasn't aware that they were dueling.
shareIt's funny, because I think of both shows as being related. They even play them back to back week nights on Encore Black. Rolly was the man on Amen and Jackee did a few guest spots. 227 had some great humor that flew over my head as a kid that I laugh at now. Better is a subjective term. I still enjoy both shows.
shareI remember in the late 80s my parents watching Amen I was about 6 or in the late 80s I didn't understand the humor. I remember back then my dad liked Rolly and my mom. When I watch AMEN on TV as a re-run Rolly is a riot. I think both 227 and Amen are grea shows and its hard to pick which one I like.
shareToughie. I grew up with both shows. They were both great in their own way.
Nice 2 laugh, but don't be the joke.👎✋
I liked both. Amen's Thelma was hilarious.
