227 Season Six Episode Guide
601 Jenkins’ Nest Syndrome
Mary and Lester are happy because they have the house to themselves after daughter Brenda has moved out of the house and away to Morgan State University. However, without Brenda being there, they feel emptiness and try to do things together in order to fill the void but have trouble doing so. Rose and Pearl try to assist. Julian tries to do a business deal with the hopes of becoming a prominent shareholder in the French Perfume franchise “eau sashay chauntae”. He enlists Eva’s help as representative as she speaks French. The plan is foiled when Eva misinterprets Julian and thinks that Julian wants to but 1,500 shares when he wanted “200” shares.

NOTE: Regina King appears less this season because she is acting in director John Singleton’s new movie “Boyz in the hood”.
602 You can come home again…New York style
Sandra makes a visit to Washington D.C. with her boss from New York for a meeting to open up a chain health club called “Sensations” in the area. Sandra enlists Mary’s help in talking a property owner of a neighborhood into being bought out. Rose’s daughter Tiffany returns to Washington after spending two years at the New York Performing Arts for singing. Her two year scholarship has expired and she moves back in with Rose and new step father Warren to spend her senior year of school.

Triva: Jackee makes an agreement with Marla Gibbs and producers to make six appearances this season of the show. It was agreed that Sandra would remain in New York but would come to visit. Kia Goodwin returns to the series after a near three year absence from the show.
603 It’s not you, it’s me
Mary’s talent agent gets her a role as a stand in for actress Marla Gibbs for a TV show about Marla’s character living in Chicago in a building called 338. Travis is supposed to take Marla to set but thinking that she is Mary, takes her back to 227 where Lester and friends think Marla is Mary while production people on set mistakes Mary for Marla. A confused Mary steps into character Meredith Johnson. Lester takes Mary (whom he doesn’t know is Marla) to the dentist for a root canal.

604 Making minor adjustments
Warren feels as though he is disliked by Tiffany when he mistakenly overhears a comment that Tiffany says which is really about someone else. He then goes to Lester for help as he has never been a father before. Rose discovers what has happened and goes to Tiffany. Tiffany tells Rose she is talking about one of the teachers at Waverly high school who she and all other students find it difficult to be around. Warren, Tiffany and Rose communicate and work out the confusion. Mary tries to expand her dinner menu by learning to cook Chinese.

605 Country Slickers
Lester’s cousin, Randy and his wife and daughter return to Washington with their pig. Lester tells Randy that the pig can’t stay. Randy’s wife Amy tells Mary that the pig is sick and will die if he is separated for a period of time. Brenda comes home for visit. When she goes to her room to sleep, she finds the pig in the room. Brenda and Calvin take Bonnie Bell and Tiffany to a college party.

606 Should I or shouldn’t I is the question
Tiffany’s boyfriend is captain of the football team and the winning ticket for Waverly high. He needs a passing grade in History in order to play and Dylan is feeling the pressure to pass by the principal. Pearl decides to open up a daycare for kids. Her apartment gets overcrowded with kids so half the kids end up staying up in Mary and Lester’s apartment.

607 All the land I need
Lester gets caught up in a bidding war when he bids on land to build on against another company who wants to use it to build a recording company on whose co owner is none other than Whitney Houston. Julian decides to invest in co producing a movie and wants Mary to have a part in it. However, neither Mary nor Julian are aware that it is a Pornographic film.
Special guest star: Whitney Houston as herself.
NOTE: Whitney Houston performs her latest hit “All the man I need” which Mary dedicates to Lester.

608 Pyramid Scheme
Production for the $100,000 Pyramid lands in Washington, D.C. Mary gets an opportunity to be a contestant on the show. Sandra, who is on visit from New York, is selected as a contest also. Mary brings up the fact that she is no longer a D.C. resident but Sandra claims to still have technical residency and ends up on the Pyramid against Mary. It is close as Sandra wins the first round and plays the winner’s circle but Mary wins the second and goes on to play in the winner’s circle. The end result is them tying each other down to the last penny for winnings. They are invited back for a rematch in the near future. Airdate: 12/15/90

609 Sandra Claus is coming to town
Sandra calls Mary saying she loves New York but is longing to spend time with her friends in D.C. She decides to take a trip to 227 and stays with the Jenkins causing a confusing chain of events. Warren works with police officer Barbara Weston to solve a case. Pearl volunteers herself in Warren’s project to catch the scheming Santa who is notorious for ripping off senior citizens. Tiffany and Rose do their best to make Warren’s first Christmas with them a great one.

NOTE: Kristy McNichol makes a cameo appearance on 227 in her well known role as Barbara Weston from the sitcom Empty Nest which aired the name night as 227.

610 Who’s having a baby?
When Tiffany does babysitting for a neighbor, she carries a letter that says that “he” is not ready to have a baby and doesn’t know if he wants to be a father. Mary, Eva and Pearl thinks it’s a letter to Tiffany. Lester finds it near Brenda’s room and thinks its from Calvin. Lester bumps into Travis and Dylan and the letter accidentally falls into Dylan’s test papers as the he and Travis go to Julian’s apartment as his Julian’s ex wife is leaving. When Travis and Dylan leave, Julian finds the letter which is next to his ex-wife’s briefcase. He thinks that the letter is from a man his ex wife is seeing and tries to comfort her. When Tiffany finds out the fiasco that the letter has caused, she tells everyone that the letter is a prop item for the senior play at school. Airdate 1/26/91

611 Co-Owners
Julian offers Rose a partnership in running 227. Mary encourages Rose to go for it. However, things end up in disarray when they are running things their own way. A lot of confusion manifests itself as a result of the co-ownership. Mary finds herself in the crossfire when she temporarily ends up running the building.

612 She’s after one thing
Dylan does stand up comedy part time dates a woman whom he meets after a set who thinks he is rich. Travis finds out that she is a gold digger and will set him up for heartbreak but Dylan thinks Travis is jealous of the attention. Mary and Lester think about re planning another trip to Hawaii after they missed their flight from due to being held hostage.
Triva: A previous season episode had Mary, Lester and most of the cast being held hostage by Mr. Big (Gary Coleman) and his bodyguards over 25,000dollars that Travis found.

Mary and Rose decide to take a night course. Things are awkward when the discover that their visiting assistant teacher is little Alexandria Dewitt. Mary panics over a test and gets caught cheating by Alexandria.

614 No anniversary blues
The gang plans an anniversary part for Rose and Warren to commemorate their 1st wedding anniversary. Rose and Warren are caught in a crossfire robbery attempt on their way to the venue where their friends are waiting for them.

615 Please, Hammer don’t judge him!
Brenda and Calvin explore the possibility of having a real relationship. Calvin gets cold feet. He gets tickets to an M.C. Hammer concert and takes Brenda. Hammer has a talk with Calvin and after talking with him, Calvin decides that Brenda is someone very special to him and they mutually decide to date one another and see where it takes them. Travis jumps for joy when Hammer’s assistant asks him to give a ride to him and Hammer to Philadelphia to do concert.

Triva: M.C. Hammer makes his way to Philadelphia which is actually a crossover to the tv show “Amen” where he does an off screen concert. He also encourages Clearance Simpson who is thinking about dropping out of school to stay in school.

Mary’s agent ends up getting her an acting gig as a character from a children’s storybook tale. She contends with an obnoxious, bossy ten year old that plays opposite her in the show. Airdate: 3/2/91

617 Sister, Dearest
Pearl feels ignored when everyone takes to her sister, Madge. Pearl begins to resent the face that she’s there and is secretly furious that her sister has announced that she is moving to the building. 618 Sandra Clark: Business Woman
Sandra makes a stop into Washington D.C. to oversee the Sensations health club in the neighborhood. When the workers are sick with the flu, she convinces her friends to step in and help out causing crazy results when a member gets accidentally locked into a tanning bed. Airdate: 3/23/91

619 For my country
Manny, a friend of Brenda and Calvin’s is having reservations about participating in the Gulf War. Manny’s parents are divided about the issue. He seeks counsel from Lester about this difficult situation.

620 Fifty-five makes a difference
Brenda and Calvin help Tiffany make a choice as to what college to choose from when she receives her acceptance letters with one of them being from Morgan State. Mary is having issues when her parents decide to celebrate their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary for an entire year traveling across the country…by motorcycle!

Mary goes out shopping and the gang can’t find out where she is. After the police get back to the gang , they give Lester and the family a description of a woman whom was involved in a near fatal accident.

622 Where is Mary? (Part 2)
With not knowing what Mary’s fate is, everyone sits back and reminisce about the moments that they had with Mary. They go through a series of flashback clips from previous episodes. Mary comes through the door and she is fine. The woman that everyone thought was Mary was a dummy placed in the line of fire by a female escape convict whom is eventually captured by Warren.

NOTE: The last two episodes for this season would act as the series finale for the show as it was mutually agreed by Marla Gibbs and Network executives that it was time to end the run of the series. There would have been an issue with the whereabouts of the character Warren. Kevin Peter Hall missed the last several episodes of the series due to his health complications. He does return to film a scene in the last episode. Soon after, he passed away due to AIDS related cancer.
NBC did a last minute renewal to pick up 227 for a midseason replacement and ordered a full season’s worth of episodes and moved the show to 7:30pm E/T on Saturday nights as the lead in for Amen.
