I don't know how others feel about the new Gus Van Sant film, but judging by the trailer Sean Penn will do a stellar job as Mr. Milk. I can't wait to see this film. The doc really was emotionally moving, especially ending with Harvey's famous speech.
What do others think about old Sean Penn as Harvey?
It's the best performance I've ever seen Penn give; he's at his least mannered in his entire acting career. He practically becomes Harvey Milk, which is incredible considering the vast differences between Penn and the real Harvey Milk. I thought Mickey Rourke was excellent in The Wrestler, but as fine a job as Rourke did, he just cannot compare with Sean Penn.
shareI thought either Penn or Rourke deserved it. When Penn won I was a little bitter, but after two years now Penn has become one of my favorite actors and I'm glad I was able to see him win that award, and be able to appreciate his role more. Both "Milk" and "The Times of Harvey Milk" are amazing films.
