movie said Dan White opposed Prop 6... Huh??!

In the events leading up to the vote on Proposition 6, there was a clip from the newspaper showing where Ronald Regan opposed Proposition 6. The narrator said something to the effect that even Supervisor Dan White had come out against the proposition. I went back and listened again to make sure I didn't misunderstand.

If true, this revelation begs some sort of explanation or further elaboration. A quick Internet search on Dan White didn't turn up anything one way or another, but it sure seems unlikely, given the way White was presented in the film.

Does anyone know anything about this?

It was stated in the film that some unlikely people were opposed to Proposition 6. It was stated that they felt it was unconstitutional.

Ya, just because Dan White wasn't a fan of gay people doesn't mean he thought they shouldn't be able to be teachers.

I believe he ended up in opposition to Harvey from then on, being the only one to vote against a Gay Civil Rights Bill, when Harvey negged on his promise to oppose a Mental Health facility near where White lived right? That's what this article claims.

The movie "Milk" covers that Harvey reneged on his promise re the mental health facility. I found it interesting that this documentary didn't cover it at all. That would have painted a truer picture of what went down between them.

According to the movie though he never reneged on a promise, he said he would see what he could do. If that is indeed what happened, Dan simply misinterpreted what he said.
