The scene where the terminator bought guns made no sense and was unnecessary.

He is indestructible, why bother to buy guns? I wish the movie made the terminator only use hands to kill: twist the neck, crush the skulls, pull the heads off the bodies with the spines attached.

As others have said, being able to kill at range massively helps the Terminator's mission.

But let’s not forget that you’re nitpicking a film in which an infiltration cyborg sent to LA, which can mimic any voice it hears, chooses to adopt that of an Austrian farmer.

reply

Y'know, and I do feel silly bringing this up, but they actually have a bit in T3 where we see the model for the original... and it just happened to look and sound like Arnold. Therefore, the parsimonious HCC (Head Computer in Charge) simply recycled that for the first run of Terminators.

reply

Sure, but we known the Terminator can mimic any voice, so why would it be set to ‘Austrian farmer’ in LA?

reply

Because terminators are infiltrators, built to fool humans, Skynet is smart to know: making terminators as foreigners is beneficial to infiltrate, because if terminators behave weird, humans would think: "He is a foreigner, of course he is weird."

reply

Good effort but… no. The Terminator sounds like an Austrian farmer because Cameron cast an Austrian beefcake and thought ‘…fuck it’

reply

Default setting = Original model. Original model is obviously an average human in the eyes of HCC.

reply

HCC?

reply

Head Computer in Charge... Like HNC, only different.

reply

It wouldn’t be that dumb. Skynet was born in America and was sending an infiltration unit to LA, no way would it set The Terminator’s voice to ‘Austrian farmer’.

reply

I maintain that the deleted scene from T3 explains everything. Clearly the computer imprinted on the voice of (Had to look it up) William Candy... Which was clearly "fixed" to 'Austrian farmer' by the helpful company representative who states that he can do so... in a similar accent.

reply

T3 is not canon, and its deleted scenes are even less so.

The Terminator sounds like an Austrian farmer because Cameron cast an Austrian beefcake and thought ‘…fuck it’

reply

Who decreed that T3 isn't canon?

reply

Common sense.

reply

Oh, I thought you were referring to something official.

reply

Well, I mean, if that's your attitude, I guess you just found a really good reason to dismiss the first and second films... Too bad, really, but your loss.

reply

Well no because T1 and T2 are masterpieces 🤷🏻‍♂️

reply

"WRONG"

reply

Guns made it possible to take people out from a distance. Much more effective in a lot of situations.

reply

But which made terminators less terrified.

reply

Just as Reese says, he was being systematic.

Just because he can kill people with his hands doesn't mean it's still not more efficient to have weapons. It's still an advantage. He's not looking for a challenge, he's looking to complete his mission.

reply

It would be easier for him to kill.

reply

I appreciate the anti-gun message.

reply

This thread makes no sense and is unnecessary.

Man this has to be a troll post, otherwise OP is a complete fucking idiot and has no right to criticize any movie ever.
