The only thing that I hate about this movie now..

It's been said before but the different sound track. I'm not talking about just the gun sounds, it's altered in scenes too. The tanker explosion, half the music is cut off right before it blows up, and the sounds it make are weak like a pop can blowing up from a firecracker. Also the sounds when Arnold gets hit by the truck sound more different and weak compared to the vhs sound. The car chase is really bad with the pellet sounding shotguns, the police station shootout, the chase toward the end. Everything with the sound change is what kills any current version of this film. It's sad cause as much praise as this movie gets, if everyone today seen it from the Mono soundtrack on vhs they would appreciate it even more. The guns sounded more deadly and devastating and that's what made the first terminator movie special for me was feeling the danger the characters were in. I really don't understand why they had to change this shit in the first place.

Yes, it bugs me when people tamper with the original sounds and musics - there's no reason to do it, and it distorts the atmosphere and 'vibes' of the movie (hard to explain).

Thankfully, I have an older release with all the sounds intact, they sound deliciously 1980s, and what I do, is put the old release (bad visual quality but no problem with sound) to play for the sound, then watch the new release as the visuals, it syncs perfectly and becomes a perfect combination.

I have never watched this movie fully any other way, and I cringe every time I see a youtuber react to these butchered versions, it's almost as cringy as some youtubers saying 'wow, they had really advanced effects for 1977' when they watch Star Wars SPECIAL EDITIONS from 1998 or later... where all these stupid lores-textured blobs obstruct anything you might want to see happen behind them.

Like, how can they NOT REALIZE these new effects that ruin Star Wars movies completely, HAVE NOT BEEN DONE IN 1977 or 1980 etc.?? HOW can they think they had that kind of CGI back then?

And why would they PRAISE that ugly crap when it's so distracting, annoying, unnecessary and UGLY? AGH!

Anyway, yeah, the gunsounds in the new releases are always high-pitched, bassless 'pheww'-type, almost some sci-fi crapsounds, instad of the boomy BLAMM!! with proper noise sounds from the 1980s. The old Miami Vice always used a similar gun sound to the original The Terminator gun sound..

Anyway, I recommend trying to find an older release, possibly from early DVD releases or maybe even VHS.

If not, maybe I could upload the soundtrack somewhere from my old release, or just the 'offending bits', but I am not sure how 'legal' that would be.. it's maddening that helping your fellow people is 'illegal' in this world of 'copyrights' and other corporate insanity. Definitely not good for the people.

P.S. I wasn't even aware of all those things you mentioned, wow. It doesn't surprise me, though, and I don't intend to ever hear how those things sound - I have the original soundtrack that I use every time I watch that movie to get the proper mood and sound.

However, what really irritates, shocks and surpreises me, is how they ALWAYS make everything weaker. When they change something, it becomes much weaker than it used to be. Why is this? Are there so many weak soyboys in this industry now, they want to weaken everything?

One example is the old World of Warfraft game. The Arcane Mage used to have very powerful 'arcane missiles', and at the height of the fun, I could shoot them like they were a minigun, it felt really powerful, it WAS really powerful, it looked awesome, direct, and just so incredibly powerful (sorry to use this word so much, but I want to emphasize just HOW powerful the experience was). In addition to using a lot of 'haste' to make them shoot faster, I had a '9 missiles per minute' talent or whatever it was..

.. so combining everything, it was truly like shooting a really powerful minigun for all intents and purposes, except a bit more exciting and magical.

What did they do right after I experienced that? They changed the arcane missiles from direct, fast, powerful shots that can be scary coming your way, and so satisfying when you're shooting them at someone (you feel like you're really shooting AT them directly, like pointing a finger at someone, hard to explain, but it was great)..

..into 'slow leaves randomly flowing in the wind any which way'. No longer are they direct, but they fly any which way, they curve and they have INERTIA (stupidest thing to add), so they never feel like you're instantly shooting, but you have to wait for them to gain speed, too.. it's like you're throwing some dust into the wind and hoping it hits something. I mean, it hit just as much, did just as much damage, but it FELT weaker. They changed the audio to something weak and feeble, too.

It was no longer fun to play. It was such an insult and slap in the face, but that's what they do to everything, and this movie is no exception; EVERYTHING HAS TO BE WEAKENED.

Yeah I am a die hard Terminator fan, and if it was on TV I would watch it, and could notice every single change I mentioned. Even when they get dropped off at the motel and the truck honks that gave them a ride, the horn is different then in the better Mono sound track I mean that's just nitpicking but again why change anything that didn't need to be in the first place. I can't watch this movie with the current soundtrack they use. I will always remember this film with the dirty harry gun sounds from the T-800's laser sight gun.
