Opening credits on the blu-ray

It's strange, the side edges close in during the opening credits and then it opens back up after they finish. It's rather odd. I don't recall the DVD being this way.

My old VHS had that if i'm not mistaken.

I'm just on my way up to Clavius.

Was it letterboxed?

Don't know what DVD you watched of it, but the image on the Collectors Edition DVD, behaves the exact same way as on the Blu-ray.
I recall it behaved the exact same way on the letterboxed UK-VHS release i had many years ago.
