Why does the grandma squat down next to the car when they’re leaving for the wedding?

There wasn't enough room in the car to fit everyone during filming. So they had her squat to look like she was sitting in the car. It gets ruined when the car backs out you still see her.
shareThank you. Finally someone vindicates me. I just re-watched this last night for the 17th time, and I never noticed that the same grandma that squatted, also magically shows up in the backseat in the next shot. I guess John Hughes never could have predicted, streaming movies. Or even DVD's for that matter.
