These films are similar only because of the way the monsters look. Honestly, Deadly Spawn was the best of these films.

Movies like The Thing and Slither should not be mentioned,their big budget studio based monster movies and The Deadly Spawn was super low budget so here are some that are like The Deadly Spawn

Night Of The Creeps
The Toxic Avenger
The Dead Next Door
Darkness(the 1993 shot on super 8 gory ass vampire movie not the piece of s hit movie from Spain made in2004)
Braindead(AKA Dead Alive for the posers)
The best one of all that you should see is HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP!!!!!!! Its the greatest monster movie of all time

Don't forget BLOODBEACH and at a stretch Scared To Death and Slithis:Spawn Of Slithis...but nothing compares to THE DEADLY SPAWN....THIS is the best monster movie of ALL TIME!....in my opinion anyways.

You can't mention movies that are similar to Deadly Spawn without mentioning Slither. Sure it may have had a big budget. But it pays so many homages to The Deadly Spawn.

I love movies with the concept "alien creature from space lands on earth and eats and/or transform humans". There is still untapped potential in such a basic plot. Maybe also the movie The Farm could be included.

Anyone see Plaga Zombie: Mutant Zone? It has it all; zombies, aliens, hedge-trimmers, and a wrestler.

I loved Deadly Spawn. So much so I think I will make shirts showing my joy of this film before the next Fango Convention.

Contamination was mentioned in the first response, but it's an awesome Italian gorefest that came out a few years before 'Deadly Spawn'. The two films are very similar.

Nah, Contamination has nothing to do with the Deadly Spawn (even though, it's gory and fun)

The movie is about a shipment of alien eggs that cause humans to explode when near them.

I think one that shares a lot of similarities is a stinker from 1964, The Creeping Terror. Not saying Deadly Spawn is NEARLY as bad, and they don't share the parasite aspect, but really, the main alien is the big bad in both, and the kill scenes have similar traits, just seperated by 20 years of improvement in effects and what you could get away with, but both had horrific acting, low budget special effects, non-existant scripts...Creeping Terror borders on Woods cheesy. It has even earned its place on MSFT2K. Haven't seen Abomination, but after looking at it, will have to find it.

Not to repeat titles already mentioned, so I'll add one more to the list:

"Something is out there!" ... It was a mid '80s horror flick, but it had a lot of comedic parts, mostly poking references or spoofing some subgenre cliches, but it had few gory scenes. Plot is quite similar to Deadly Spawn - monster from outer space trying to eat group of teens while they are having fun in some cabin in the wood. Lead guy is horror buff which he uses to his advantage for fighting monster\survival. Monster looks like some big fish with huge teeth if I remember correctly (seen it looong time ago).

Really surprised to not see a single mention of Metamorphosis: The Alien Factor, which is pretty much the sequel to Deadly Spawn. It's sold as Deadly Spawn 2 in some markets. Personally, I think it's the superior film, especially as far as monster effects and gore go.

"Nothing says "OBEY ME" like a severed head on a fence post."
