Worth buying before seeing? Murray's Performance?

I've recently been hearing good things about it. I am a HUGE bill murray fan, and I was wondering if i should throw caution to the wind and just order this movie before acctually seeing it? Is it really that good? and does murray give a one in a life time performance. Im not just a fan of his comedic work, and I really enjoy drama, so will I like this movie? Is it worth buying first?

I bought it before I saw it, and it is DEFINITELY worth it.

Enjoy!

Honestly, I'm glad I saw it before I decided to buy it - I won't be buying it. I love Bill Murray and I love the novel the film is based on, but I didn't love this movie. I was disappointed...

I've bought it three times on DVD alone...but I keep giving it away to friends.

Anyone who calls themselves a Bill Murray fan must see this. I would have cut some of the first act (some lines during the military stuff, just for pacing purposes), but otherwise its cool. When he gets to India it really shines (visually, too).

I saw this movie on cable more than twenty years ago shortly after it came out, and I just bought it on DVD a couple of days ago so I could watch it again. I've never forgotten it.

Worth buying, great film.

I often buy a DVD before viewing it.

No more risk than going to a theater.

reply

Don't buy it. If you have to buy one but the 1946 version or read the book.
