do you think goldstein..

actually existed?

reply

Yes....& No. Was probably a real person, but was obviously controlled opposition used as bait by The Party to feret out rebels from within the rank & file.

reply

I thought he might have been a former leader who was overthrown and in exile.

reply

He was sort of like Osama Bin Laden, a real person paid by the powers that be to create a convenient nemesis.

reply

Osama was real. Too real.

reply

Real. But very likely a CIA agent. When Bin Laden was fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan he was an American ally.

It's also very suspicious that after his "death", media was not allowed to see or photograph the body. Where is it? Too convenient methinks.

The Neo-Cons needed a boogeyman and Bin Laden served a useful purpose.

reply

please don't tell me it was an inside job.

reply

Meh, I don't know if it was or not. But Bin Laden sounds a lot like Goldstein.

reply

you should read some mainstream books about the 9/11 attacks and bin laden

reply

Well I accepted all the information given in the media about Bin Laden.

And I'm skeptical of conspiracy theories.

But we're discussing Goldstein. Orwell was a journalist with a keen sense of observation. Power needs to focus on an enemy to keep the masses in line. The Neo-Cons needed a villain to focus attention so they could invade Iraq. It's very plausible that Bin Laden was used by the American government much like Big Brother used Goldstein.

reply

Yeah, exactly.

You again.

reply

Me again, what?

reply

Ah nothing, I seen you on one of my threads on the discussion board
