Skeffington...where have I heard that name before...?

Hi all,

I wonder if James Coco's dog's name of Mr. Skeffington was intended as a reference to Eileen Brennan's character of Tess Skeffington in "Murder By Death" since both James and Eileen were in MBD together?

reply

For what it's worth, James Coco was Mr. Skeffington. The dog was Snookums.

And yes, that is what I'm asking--if James Coco's dog's name was made as an homage to James' role in "Murder By Death." So again, I ask the question, was the dog's name in "The Muppets Take Manhattan" intended as an inside joke/tribute/reference to James Coco's role in 'Murder By Death?"

reply

I doubt it, but I'll say it again - what you should be asking is not whether the dog's name was an homage to "Murder By Death," but whether James Coco's character name was. Coco played Mr. Skeffington, which could possibly be linked to "Murder By Death". The dog's name was Snookums, so that obviously has nothing to do with the other film.

No problem. My goof. Thanks for correcting my question.
