I can't believe no one has posted about this movie. It was constantly on cable when I was a kid, and I recently bought it on VHS. This needs a DVD release!! It's really such a sweet movie. Cheesy, yes, but so enjoyable. More fans should speak up!

shareOkay! Fan here and speaking up! I love it too! I have it somewhere on tape, but I'd love a DVD! I am an absolute fan of Michael Ontkean. I think this is actually the first movie I saw with Michael Ontkean and I fell under his charm (is that how you say it?)? Then I saw Celluloid Closet and there was a scene from "Making Love"! Gosh, sooo sexy! I had to wait for 2002, when I was in the States, to finally buy a VHS of "Making Love" and watch the entire movie for the first time. I think it's a masterful movie! I bought the DVD last week! Soooo sad that there are basically no extras on the DVDs..
Anyway, I love this cheesy but sweet movie "Just the Way You Are"! It has a young Tim Daly in it, who is also one of my favourite actors!

Oh yes...Tim Daly was Kristy's fiance in the movie, I had forgotten! He was so cute. I love Michael Ontkean too. I adored him in Voices with Amy Irving. Yet another movie not released on DVD. Grr. I'll have to check out Making Love. Thanks for the recommendation. :-)
shareMichael Ontkean was on quite a role with those romance films, with co-stars of various genders. He's terrific with Kristy McNichol here, though I wouldn't have minded if his character had some screen time in the first half of the film.
This is a sweet '80s chestnut with an excellent cast.
It's a good fun little film about romance and new opportunities.
Having said that, I still believe in the old lost love theory. :)
