Is there a soundtrack available for Hot Dog... the Movie? Does anyone know a track listing?

I really like the synth pop in the movie.

My votes for the two best songs in the movie:

1. The opening scene. "Top of the Hill" was written and performed by Clif Magnes. Clif is a legendary Hollywood music guy who has done a lot of soundtracks. He even has a few greatest hits CDs, none of which however include anything from Hot Dog. The only way I've been able to get ahold of the song was to use a program called Audio Hijack which allows you to rip an MP3 directly from a DVD.

2. The ski montage right after the whole "You can kiss my ass, not on zis side, not on zat side, but right in zee middle" exchange with Rudy. This is, believe it or not, Mitch Ryder (yes, THAT Mitch Ryder) covering Prince's 1980 hit, "When You Were Mine". It was included on Mitch's 1983 comeback album titled, "Never Kick a Sleeping Dog", which was actually produced by John Mellencamp. It was a minor hit on rock radio but didn't reinvigorate Mitch's career like he'd hoped. He has pretty much been in Europe ever since. You can hear a lengthy clip of it at Mitch's website at http://mitchryder.net/music/mine.rm Or you can simply use Audio Hijack and kick the song off with Dan O'Callahan telling the Rat Pack, "C'mon!" as they charge down the hill. If none of those options work for you, I found a vinyl copy of the single on eBay for $4.

The only music from this film that has ever been officially released (aside from Hungry Like The Wolf) is Mitch Ryder's 'When You Were Mine". Clif Magness sang 'Hold On' and 'Top of the Hill' (there are rumors of a Japanese EP with these songs...but I have never, ever seen one). I contacted Clif myself and even he did not have a copy of 'Hold Me' so all hope is probably in the hands of Peter Bernstein. The demand for this score is pretty niche...so don't count on ever having it.

I have a copy of Mitch Ryders WHEN YOU WERE MINE.. email me for it

Rakinik... Clif Magness may not even have a copy himself, but I have the full length studio version of 'Hold On' (used in the ballet and aerials sequences) and have posted a link for downloading it from my file server in my other post in this thread. I LOVE this song.

Again, the link for this and other hard to find tracks from the movie (2 studio tracks - Hold On & When You Were Mine, and 2 ripped from the movie - Dreamers on the Rise and Top of the Hill) is http://www.mediafire.com/?idz3x4c9khztw

What was the name of the song he sang to Sunny will in bed? It sounded like a John Denver song.

If you look hard enough, there was an official release of the soundtrack in France I believe.

This is a re-post of mine from the "Hold Me song from Hot Dog" thread. You can download the key, almost impossible to find, songs from my hosting link below.
_______

After a huge amount of searching, I managed to find some of the more difficult to find tracks from the film. I have uploaded them to a file server so anyone can download them.

Currently I have most of the key songs and may upload others (to the same server folder) as I come across them. The ones I have are

"Hold On" by Clif Magness (used during the ballet and aerial competitions). Apparently not even Clif Magness has the studio recording, which was never released... but I do, and it sounds amazing.

"When You Were Mine" by Mitch Ryder (used during the ski montage when Harkin first hooks up with the Rat Pack (studio recording, not a rip).

"(Love Starts at the) Top of the Hill" by Clif Magness (used during the opening credit ski montage). I ripped this from the DVD, as it was never released anywhere.

I have a copy of "Dreamers on the Rise" by John Stewart, but it's not the same version as the one in the movie. I have uploaded it anyway, but I'm still looking for the movie version. What's interesting is that although the movie credits mention who wrote the song, it's the only song where there's no credit for who actually performed it. It doesn't sound like John Stewart to me, in fact it sounds a lot like Patrick Houser the actor who played Harkin Banks. EDIT 03/24/14: I found out today directly from Mike Marvin, the movie's writer/producer... Guitar by Mike Marvin, vocals by Chuck McDermott.

The download link for all the songs is http://www.mediafire.com/?idz3x4c9khztw

Enjoy... and happy skiing :)

EDIT: I have now uploaded the mp3 of Dreamers on the Rise from the movie (ended up ripping it from the DVD). I also uploaded the video clip (captioned with lyrics) to YouTube at http://youtu.be/fCVEFuuSUkA
