Remake or sequel?

Yes, very seldom a remake or sequel does the original any justice, but let's just pretend that this one time it could happen and not be purists for awhile. Which would be best? The original actors are obviously past their prime (or do not look anything at all like we remember them), so a sequel is probably out of the question (IMHO). So let's go with a remake, with some (or all) of the originals making cameos maybe. Should it follow the storyline of the original, or deviate from it in some way, shape, or form? Yes sports fans, the Chinese Downhill must be included, I don't care what the PC police say. And last but not least, who among the current crop of actors/actresses would play the players? Before the sourpusses and cranky wankers get their panties all twisted up over this, remember, this is for fun.

Let the games begin....

There was a small write up last year in Skiing magazine with the producer. DVD sales were really stong and they realized there's a cult following for the film. He claims he was trying to gather funding to do a sequel. Hope this works out and some of the original cast is back again.

The bulk of this cast hasn't acted since the movie was made. It was interesting, it was on Flix tonight and I watched it for the first time in at least 20 years. I was 13 when I saw this film and loved it, classic 80's "party T&A flick". I vaguely remember watching this back to back with "Hardbodies" one night when I was like 15, at the time this stuff was tops.

No need for a remake, these types of movies aren't made anymore. Other than the skiing stunts and footage, they could have shot this movie in a couple of weeks - which they may have. No hard lifting on the actors part, basically some cool location shooting and then back to the studio for a week to do the interiors. A few million bucks and no one breaks a sweat, but with some awesome ski footage.

Isn't Hamburger the Movie the spiritual sequel to Hot Dog the movie? It is directed by the writer of "Hot Dog" and is absolutely hilarious, though not always in an intentional way.

I think a remake could be made, but you can't soften up the skin aspect. If you were to let the typical Hollywood remake it, you have Ryan Reynolds (not sure he'd do it at this point in his career) as Dan and replace Shannon Tweed with Shannon Elizabeth. Hollywood now wants everyone to be pretty. They'd probably even cast Taylor Lautner as Harkin then get some actress that won't really show "it" like Megan Fox (or the next Megan Fox/Jessica Alba) to play Sunny. The movie by today's standards, is pretty much soft core. Which is weird that we've taken steps backwards, as far as sex on the screen is concerned.
Zak Galifianakis would be hilarious somewhere in the cast, though.
You would pretty much have to hand it over the Todd Phillips/Apatow types and tell them to keep the skin in it to keep it really raunchy. Then hire the Warren Miller crew to shoot the sequences on the snow. To get a younger audience, you'd also have to make it snowboarding instead of skiing.
Maybe Sunny could be on meth instead of ludes! :D

LMFAO.....Yeah you are about 9 years too late. You just described OUT COLD. Zak Galifianakis stars in it and is funny, and the ski's were replaced by snowboards. Lee Major's plays the antagonist. This maybe the funniest post ever if it was truely unintentional.

Hot Tub Time Machine comes to mind... it may spoofed some other movies, too, but the whole look came from this

they should do a sequel. These types of movies were great in the 80s.Why cant todays B movies be more like this. Straight to video would be good. they did a sequel to the bachelor party didnt they? It went straight to video. It seems Boobie flicks today have to be softcore porn. And thats to bad because even with all the nudity these types of movies had decent stories and acting wasnt that bad.

The Coen Brothers should direct the remake. The did a good job with the Dude in their version of "Truer Grit".

A remake and sequel wouldn't really work because aside from some hot women, and some funny moments, there isn't anything really unique or different about this movie compared to a lot of other teen sex comedies, especialy involving sports. There's not much here to benefit the remake or sequel.

Ok, fine. No remakes. If they did they would probably have them on snow boards and that would be the total ruination of the spirit of the movie.

"check the imdb cast list before asking who portrayed who in movies"
