Sequel?
My understanding at the time that this film was a hit of sorts and critically well-recieved-Why was there not a sequel with Lambert?-(i don't remember any talk of a sequel either)-Facts? Theories?

shareI believe the movie was even made with a sequel in mind. It was talked about.
Then...nothing. I'm also wondering what happened.
Anyone?

What happened is they realized Christopher Lambert is a bad actor with a big forehead. And instead of make a sequel to his best movie, he decided to make a better career decision: Highlander 13
shareTarzan and the Lost City from 1998 is the sequel. Really.

Is that the chronological order of 'Tarzan' tales? 'Tarzan and the Lost City' may be a book by Edgar Rice Burroughs, but I don't think it's a DIRECT continuation of the MOVIE VERSION of 'Greystoke'.
Officially, 'Greystoke' is without a follow-up . . .

Actually, you can find info about this on the Greystroke DVD commentary, i listened to it in the summer (quite interesting, really) and it talks about ideas for a sequal and reasons why not, but I can't remember it off the top of my head...
shareIIRC Lost City was going to be an offical sequel to Greystoke but it fell through at the time.
